A personal watercraft has a daytime running headlight that illuminates continuously or stroboscopically when the personal watercraft is operating. The daytime running headlight makes the watercraft more noticeable to other boaters. Several embodiments are shown in which one or more daytime running headlights are mounted to the personal watercraft above the deckline of the watercraft and forward of the handlebars of the watercraft. Such positioning renders the daytime running headlight easily noticeable to other boaters even in relatively choppy water. The daytime running headlights should not only illuminate light forward of the watercraft, but should also illuminate peripherally from the watercraft. A linkage mechanism can be used to turn the one or more headlights in the direction in which the watercraft is turning.

A propulsion device for a boat that mounts through a hole in a bottom surface of the boat. The engine is positioned inside the boat and the propeller drive is positioned under a bottom surface of the boat. The propulsion device includes a mounting assembly, a steering assembly rotatably connecting the drive to the mounting assembly for steering the propeller drive under the boat, a trimming assembly swingingly connecting the drive to the steering assembly for trimming/tilting of the propeller drive under the boat at any steered position, and a drive shaft means providing a drive connection between the engine and the propeller drive at any steered and trimmed position.

Boat propulsion device

A propeller drive for a boat which provides independent steering and independent trimming/tilting mounts through a hole in a bottom surface of the boat. Steering of the propeller drive is provided by a steering assembly constructed to rotate about a generally vertical axis for connecting the drive up through the hole in the boat. Trimming of the propeller drive is provided by a trimming assembly which is pivotally connected to swing the propeller drive generally horizontally from the steering assembly.
