A process for at least partially reactivating the catalytic activity of at least a partially deactivated catalyst following a reaction cycle, the catalyst having been used in a catalytic reaction process for hydrogenating an aromatic epoxide to produce a hydrogenated aliphatic epoxide; said process including contacting the at least partially deactivated catalyst with an oxygen-containing source at a temperature of less than about 100&#xb0; C. and in the presence of a reactivation solvent for a pre-determined period of time sufficient to at least partially re-oxidize and reactivate the catalyst for further use; and a catalytic reaction process for hydrogenating an aromatic epoxide to produce a hydrogenated aliphatic epoxide including the above reactivating process step; and optionally including a step for washing the deactivated catalyst with a solvent prior to re-oxidizing the deactivated catalyst.

Catalyst regeneration process

A novel byproduct compound having the following chemical formula B: wherein R is hydrogen or CH; a composition including an admixture of: (A) a product having the following chemical formula A: wherein R is hydrogen or CH; and (B) the above novel byproduct compound having the chemical formula B; and a composition including a reaction product of: (a) an aromatic epoxy resin; (b) hydrogen; (c) a catalyst; and (d) a solvent; wherein the reaction product produced is a cycloaliphatic epoxy resin admixture of the combination of (i) the above product having the chemical formula A and (ii) the novel byproduct compound having the chemical formula B; wherein the above product having the chemical formula A includes at least a cis-cis isomer, a cis-trans isomer, and a trans-trans isomer; and the novel byproduct compound having the chemical formula B includes at least a cis isomer and a trans isomer.

Epoxy resin compositions

A process for conversion of aliphatic bicyclic amines to aliphatic diamines including contacting one or more bicyclic amines selected from the group consisting of 3-azabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane and azabicyclo[3.3.1]non-2-ene with ammonia and hydrogen, and alcohols in the presence of heterogeneous metal based catalyst systems, a metal selected from the group consisting of Co, Ni, Ru, Fe, Cu, Re, Pd, and their oxides at a temperature from 140&#xb0; C. to 200&#xb0; C. and a pressure from 1540 to 1735 psig for at least one hour reactor systems; forming a product mixture comprising aliphatic diamine(s), bicyclic amine(s), ammonia, hydrogen, and alcohol(s); removing said product mixture from the reactor system; removing at least some of the ammonia, hydrogen, water, alcohols, bicyclic amines from said product mixture; thereby separating the aliphatic diamines from said product mixture.

Process for the conversion of aliphatic cyclic amines to aliphatic diamines

A process for reductive amination of aliphatic cyanoaldehydes to aliphatic diamines comprising (1) providing a mixture of 1,3-cyanocyclohexane carboxaldehyde and/or 1,4-cyanocyclohexane carboxaldehyde; (2) contacting said mixture with a metal carbonate based solid bed or a weak base anion exchange resin bed at a temperature from 15 to 40 &#xb0; C. for a period of at least 1 minute; (3) thereby treating said mixture, wherein said treated mixture has a pH in the range of 6 to 9; (4) feeding said treated mixture, hydrogen, and ammonia into a continuous reductive amination reactor system; (6) contacting said treated mixture, hydrogen, and ammonia with each other in the presence of one or more heterogeneous metal based catalyst systems at a temperature from 80 &#xb0; C. to 160 &#xb0; C. and a pressure from 700 to 3500 psig; (7) thereby producing one or more cycloaliphatic diamines is provided.

Process for reductive amination of aliphatic cyanoaldehydes to aliphatic diamines

The present invention generally relates to a condensed process for producing terephthalic acid and terephthalic esters from a dialkyl cyclohexane-2,5-dione-1,4-dicarboxylate; a chemoselective process for preparing a substantially bicyclic-lactone-free dialkyl cyclohexane-2,5-diol-1,4-dicarboxylate; and compositions of matter prepared thereby.

Processes for producing terephthalic acid and terephthalic esters

A process for production of a borohydride compound M(BH). The process has three steps. The first step combines a compound of formula (RO)M with aluminum, hydrogen and a metallic catalyst containing at least one metal selected from the group consisting of titanium, zirconium, hafnium, niobium, vanadium, tantalum and iron to produce a compound of formula M(AlHOR), wherein Ris phenyl or phenyl substituted by at least one alkyl or alkoxy group; M is an alkali metal, Be or Mg; and y is one or two; wherein the catalyst is present at a level of at least 200 ppm based on weight of aluminum. The second step combines the compound of formula M(AlHOR)with a borate, boroxine or borazine compound to produce M(BH)and a byproduct mixture containing alkali metal and aluminum aryloxides. The third step separates M(BH)from the byproduct mixture.

Process for production of a borohydride compound

A process for production of a metal hydride compound MH, wherein x is one or two and M is an alkali metal, Be or Mg. The process comprises combining a compound of formula (RO)M with aluminum, hydrogen and at least one metal selected from among titanium, zirconium, hafnium, niobium, vanadium, tantalum and iron to produce a compound of formula MH. Ris phenyl or phenyl substituted by at least one alkyl or alkoxy group. A mole ratio of aluminum to (RO)M is from 0.1:1 to 1:1. The catalyst is present at a level of at least 200 ppm based on weight of aluminum.

Process for production of a metal hydride

The present disclosure relates to compositions, systems, and methods of forming an amine (e.g., methylenedianiline (MDA)) using an acid catalyst including, for example, a metal oxide-silica catalyst calcined at temperature(s) of about &#x2267;500&#xb0; C. to form a solid acid silica-metal oxide catalyst. A metal oxide of a solid acid silica-metal oxide catalyst may comprise alumina. A process for making a solid acid silica-metal oxide catalyst may comprise calcining an amorphous alumina-silica material at temperature(s) of about &#x2267;500&#xb0; C. and/or under an anhydrous and/or inert atmosphere. A rearrangement reaction of the condensation product of aniline and formaldehyde in the presence of a solid acid silica-metal oxide catalyst may yield more MDA and/or more desirable isomer(s) of MDA than reactions performed with a corresponding catalyst calcined at temperature(s) of less than 500&#xb0; C.

Production of mixtures of methylenedianiline and its higher homologues using calcined metal oxide-silica catalysts

Process for production of an aluminum hydride compound

The present invention provides an improved hydrogenation processes wherein heat is efficiently managed so that catalyst productivity is optimized. More particularly, in the processes of the present invention, a nonaqueous solvent is added to a reactant to provide a nonaqueous solvent/reactant mixture that can act as a heat sink and absorb at least a portion of the heat generated within the reactor.
