A retrograde intramedullary nail for insertion in the medullary canal of a femur includes a body that is elongate and defines a leading end and a trailing end spaced from each other at a length sufficient to extend from an intercondylar region at least to a subtrochanteric region of the femur. The body further defines a leading portion that extends to the leading end. The leading portion defines at least one locking hole configured to receive a fixation member. The at least one locking hole defines a central hole axis that is oriented to extend through the neck and head of the femur.

Retrograde femoral intramedullary nail, and related systems and methods

A bone plate comprises a plate body and at least one tab. The plate body defines an inner body surface configured to face an underlying bone, an outer body surface opposite the inner body surface, and an outer side surface that extends between the inner body surface and the outer body surface. The outer side surface defines an outer perimeter of the plate body. The at least one tab includes a head and an arm that extends from the plate body to the head. The tab defines a tab aperture that extends through the head and is configured to receive a bone anchor. The bone anchor can be coupled with a screw hole in the nail. The arm is configured to deflect with respect to the plate body so as to move the head between a pre-fixation position and a fixation position spaced from the pre-fixation position.

Bone plate

An aiming arm system comprises an aiming arm and a guide sleeve. The aiming arm has 1) a body and a guide hole that extends through the body along a hole axis, and 2) a retention element supported relative to the body. The aiming arm is configured to be positioned such that the hole axis is aligned with a target location of an anatomical implant. The guide sleeve extends along a linear direction, and is sized to be inserted through the guide hole in the linear direction. Relative rotation between the guide sleeve and the retention element transitions the aiming arm system between an unlocked configuration whereby the guide sleeve is insertable through the guide hole, and a locked configuration whereby the retention element applies a retention force to the guide sleeve that substantially prevents the guide sleeve from moving further along the linear direction.

Locking trocar and method of using the same

A guide sleeve for use in anchoring a fixation member to an intramedullary nail and to bone includes a sleeve body that is elongate along a central axis and has an internal surface that defines a bore extending along the central axis to a distal end of the sleeve body. The sleeve body also defines a plurality of guide channels that are each recessed radially outwardly from the internal surface and each include a helical proximal portion and a linear distal portion that extends from the helical proximal portion toward the distal end. The linear distal portion is parallel with the central axis. The guide channels are configured to receive respective complimentary followers of an instrument for driving the fixation member through the bore and subsequently through the intramedullary nail and into the bone.

Guide sleeve for fine axial adjustability of a fixation member, and related systems and methods

In one embodiment, a bone-plate placement tool guides a bone plate against an outer surface of a bone so that the bone plate can be fastened to an intramedullary nail received in a medullary canal of the bone. The tool includes a guide shaft and a plate holder. The shaft defines a bore extending therethrough along an axis. The plate holder couples to a bone plate, and is coupled to the guide shaft such that the plate holder angulates relative to the axis along a range of angles. The bore of the shaft and a bore of the plate holder combine to define a passageway that extends through the tool as the plate holder angulates relative to the axis along the range of angles so as to guide at least one of a drill bit and a bone anchor through the tool and into an aperture in the bone plate.
