A multi-media reader (MMR) apparatus, secure transaction system and methods thereof are provided. The MMR apparatus includes a slot to receive a card and a near field communication (NFC) antenna to communicate with other NFC enabled devices and cards. The system is provided for securely sharing information over a network to complete one or more transactions using the MMR apparatus and a mobile device. The shared information may be separated and reassembled using on or more servers to increase security.

Multi-media reader apparatus, secure transaction system and methods thereof

A cooling tray includes a container, springs placed within the container to exerting a vertical thrust, a platform residing within the container and coupled to each spring, and a bowl for residing above the container. When ice is placed on the platform, the plurality of springs are each compressed such that the cooling material contacts an undersurface of the bowl. As the ice melts, the water flows below the platform, and the springs decompress and maintain the remaining ice in contact with the undersurface of the bowl. In this manner, food that requires refrigeration may be served from the portable cooling tray at the appropriate temperature. A formed ice block may be used to impart greater and more efficient cooling as a greater surface area of the ice contacts the undersurface of the bowl. The bowl may be of aluminum to further increase the efficiency.

An electrically insulative frame configured for attachment to a dropped ceiling grid, having a plurality of cells formed by cell members, including an open cell having a cell opening. The frame insulates the cell opening when attached therein. A worker, having a head and torso, may extend his/her head and torso through the frame while being electrically insulated from the cell.

A mobile device case includes a reel assembly, including a reel, a supporting plate, and a hub between the reel and the supporting plate. The hub includes a first cavity between the hub and the supporting plate for housing a spring, and a second cavity between the hub and the reel for housing a flat flexible cable (FFC). The spring is wound in a first direction, while the FFC is wound in a second direction. The FFC includes a first end for electrically coupling to a female jack connector of a device. A female connector is electrically coupled to a second end of the FFC for engaging a male jack connector of user-provided headphones. When the reel rotates in the first direction, the spring tightens and the FFC loosens. When the reel rotates in the second direction, the spring loosens and the FFC tightens.

A protective headwear comprising a first shell half and a second shell half coupled to each other by first and second elastic strips. The combination of first and second shell halves forms a protective cage for protecting a person's head. A plurality of pads is coupled to an inner surface of the protective cage. The pads are positioned to contact strong areas on the person's head when the protective cage is worn and to provide spacing between the cage and the person's head. A baseball cap may be coupled to an outer surface of the cage to form a lightweight, unobtrusive, and protective headwear.

The contact member () has a cutting area () that cuts through the insulation of the cable () and contacts a conductor of the cable. The contact member () further has a contact area () that contacts a conductor arranged in the housing (). The support () is received in an opening of the housing () and the cable () is retained between the support and the housing (). A particular advantage of this solution is that the support which carries the contact members simultaneously fulfills the strain relief function by clamping the cable between itself and the housing.

A vibrating tampon apparatus to provide relief from feminine menstrual cramps comprises a vibration element, a housing unit, and a tampon member. The vibration element provides a source of vibrations and is contained within the housing unit. The tampon member is fabricated of an absorbent material and covers at least a portion of the housing unit, while being held in place by retaining elements on the exterior of the housing unit. Electric power is supplied to the vibration element by a remote electric power source. The electrical connection between the electric power source and the vibration element is controlled remotely by a control unit that allows the apparatus to operate either momentarily, in a testing situation, or continually for the lifetime of the electric power source, which is for normal usage and cannot be interrupted by the user.

A folding pet bed includes a frame with a top face and a bottom face and includes: a spine; a first and second frame plates coupled to the spine to form rotating joints; the first and second frame plates including flexible arms, where each of the flexible arms includes a first end fixably coupled to the corresponding frame plate and a second end not fixably coupled to the corresponding frame plate; and a plurality of casters coupled to the second ends of the flexible arms at the bottom face of the frame. The pet bed further includes trays coupled to the frame plates at the top face of the frame upon which a pet may rest. The trays may be rotated toward each other to place the pet bed in a folded position for easy movement and storage.

A shark deterrent device is disclosed. The device comprises at least two hollow cylindrical shafts, a tip, a twist-release mechanism, and at least one self-lock mechanism. The tip may be replaceable. The shark deterrent device is a retractable unit that is easy for a diver to carry and stow, and yet can be extended in order to deter a shark. The device is unlocked from its retracted position by twisting a collar, thereby unlocking the concentric shafts and allowing the unit to be fully extendable by hand. Once the unit is fully extended, a self-lock mechanism lock the unit to prevent it from retracting during use. The unit has a handle formed at one end of the outermost cylindrical shaft and a tip at the opposing end of the innermost cylindrical shaft. The tip may be replaceable and removed, and other useful tips may be attached.

A heel protector is disclosed. The heel protector includes a stem portion having a body and at least one retaining portion. A channel is formed between the body and the at least one retaining portion. A biasing portion extends from the stem portion. The biasing portion includes an opening therein. A leaf portion extends from the biasing portion. A shoe and heel protector assembly is also disclosed. A method of using the heel protector to protect the heel and waist of a shoe is also disclosed.
