Example implementations relate to a cool fluid reservoir for managing loss of cool fluid in a coolant distribution unit (CDU). The cool fluid reservoir includes a cylinder which has an internal volume defined between an inlet and outlet, and a hollow piston that is slidably connected to the cylinder via one of the inlet or outlet to split the internal volume into a first volume portion filled with the cool fluid and a second volume portion filled with driver fluid. The first volume portion is fluidically connected to a closed fluid loop of the CDU via the hollow piston and other one of the inlet or outlet. The hollow piston is slidably driven by the driver fluid to reduce the first volume portion and inject a portion of the cool fluid from the first volume portion into the closed fluid loop based on an operating pressure of the cool fluid.

Cool fluid reservoir for a coolant distribution unit

Example implementations relate to a pressure regulator assembly for a closed fluid loop of a CDU. The pressure regulator assembly has a cylinder having an internal volume, and first and second hollow pistons slidably connected to the cylinder to split the internal volume into a first volume portion having cooling fluid, a second volume portion having driver fluid, and a third volume portion having compressible matter. The first volume portion is fluidically connected to the closed fluid loop. The first hollow piston is reciprocated by the compressible matter to maintain operating pressure of the cooling fluid in the closed fluid loop. The second hollow piston is driven by the driver fluid in response to predefined pressure drop of the cooling fluid during predefined time period, to inject additional cooling fluid from the first volume portion into the closed fluid loop to restore pressure level of cooling fluid to operating pressure.

Pressure regulator assembly for a coolant distribution unit

The present disclosure is directed to a configurable extension space for a computer server or node blade that has the ability to expand data storage or other functionality to a computer system while minimizing any disruption to computers in a data center when the functionality of a computer server or a node blade is extended. Apparatus consistent with the present disclosure may include multiple electronic assemblies where a first assembly resides deep within an enclosure to which an expansion module may be attached in an accessible expansion space.

A high performance computing system with a plurality of computing blades has at least one computing blade that includes one or more computing boards and two side rails disposed at either side of the computing board. Each side rail has a board alignment element configured to hold the computing board within the computing blade, so that a top of the computing board is coupled to, and adjacent to, a portion of the board alignment element.

Twin server blades for high-density clustered computer system

A cooling system for a high performance computing system includes a closed-loop cooling cell having two compute racks and a cooling tower between the compute racks. Each compute rack includes at least one blade enclosure, and the cooling tower includes at least one water-cooled heat exchanger and one or more blowers configured to draw warm air from a side of the compute racks towards a back, across the water-cooled heat exchanger, and to circulate cooled air to a side of the compute racks towards a front. The cooling cell further includes a housing enclosing the compute racks and the cooling tower to provide a closed-loop air flow within the cooling cell. The cooling system further includes cooling plate(s) configured to be disposed between two computing boards within the computing blade, and a fluid connection coupled to the cooling plate and in fluid communication with the blade enclosure.

Closed-loop cooling system for high-density clustered computer system

A high performance computing (HPC) system includes computing blades having a first region that includes processors for performing a computation, and a second region that includes non-volatile memory for use in performing the computation and another computing processor for performing data movement and storage. Because data movement and storage are offloaded to the secondary processor, the processors for performing the computation are not interrupted to perform these tasks. A method for use in the HPC system receives instructions in the computing processors and first data in the memory. The method includes receiving second data into the memory while continuing to execute the instructions in the computing processors, without interruption. A computer program product implementing the method is also disclosed.

Populating localized fast bulk storage in a multi-node computer system

A high performance computing system includes one or more blade enclosures configured to hold a plurality of computing blades, a connection interface, coupled to the one or more blade enclosures, having one or more connectors and a shared power bus that distributes power to the one or more blade enclosures, and at least one power shelf removably coupled to the one or more connectors and configured to hold one or more power supplies. The system may further include the computing blades and the power supplies. The power shelf may include a power distribution board configured to connect the power supplies together on the shared power bus.

Independent removable computer rack power distribution system for high-density clustered computer system

A rack including a rail for supporting a computer module and a grounding element electrically coupled to the rack and positioned to electrically contact a computer module inserted in the rack such that the grounding element provides a path to ground. The grounding element can be an arcuate bracket attached to the rail to make contact with a side of the computer module. The grounding element can be a conductor extending from the rack and positioned to make contact with a side of the computer module. The rack can include a wider section which provides a cabling channel and a member on the rack for mechanically coupling the rack to an adjacent rack. The rack can include at least one passage for allowing a cable to pass through the rack to an adjacent rack and a cable organizer for maintaining placement of at least one cable routed through the passage.

A method and apparatus for real-time testing of a Tape Automated Bonded integrated circuit is described. The apparatus is inserted between a test board and a TAB tape integrated circuit. The beams of the assembly are arranged in a pattern similar to the pattern of the electrical contact pads on the test board and the TAB tape. When axial pressure is applied to the test board, the apparatus and the TAB tape, the beams compress and deform, thereby providing a scrubbing contact between the ends of the beams and the contact pads of the TAB tape and the test board. The beams are short in length thereby providing an electrical connection of virtually no impedance interface between the TAB tape and the test board, thereby allowing the intergrated circuit to be tested at AC speed.

Dual contact beam assembly for an IC test fixture

A circuit board module for a supercomputer includes quick connections for power, ground, coolant quick connects, and circuit quick connects. The quick connections provide for insertion of modules with substantial savings in time and effort. The electrical power and ground connections and the liquid coolant connections engage and disengage automatically upon insertion and removal of the modules. The circuit quick connects require only insertion of a camming tool for connection and disconnection. The modules require no bolting or unbolting of clamps or hoses for the various connections.

A method and apparatus for testing integrated circuit devices includes a cooling chuck which is extensible within a bore in a cooling chuck body to a position in thermal contact with the integrated circuit device. The temperature of the cooling chuck is regulated by a fluid cooling system, which can be set to operate at a selected capacity to maintain the integrated circuit device at a desired temperature during testing.
