Autonomous mobile robots for transporting carts are described. An example robotic cart transport system includes a cart for transport and a robotic transport. The robotic transport includes a transport cab and a load handler. The transport cab includes a drive system and a sensor array positioned over the transport cab. The load handler includes a load base supported by a directable caster wheel, a lift table positioned over the load base, a lift abutment anchor, and a lift drive. The robotic transport can autonomously position the load handler under a cart, and the lift drive can raise the lift table up and off of the top surface of the load base, to a lifted position seated against the lift abutment anchor. The lift table will contact and lift the cart in this motion, and the cart can be transported to a new location by the robotic transport.

A method for forming a flameproof transmitter is disclosed. The transmitter includes a flameproof housing including an interior surface, a display aperture and a shoulder adjacent to the aperture at first end of the housing. A transparent panel including an outer face and a perimeter is inserted into the housing from a second end to threadingly engage a fastener feature located on the interior surface of the housing such that the fastener element contacts the transparent panel and retains the transparent panel against the shoulder. A perimeter interface region between the perimeter of the transparent panel and the interior surface of the flameproof housing creates a perimeter gap that does not exceed a predetermined flameproof gap limit and a face interface region between the outer face of the transparent panel and the shoulder creates a face gap that does not exceed the predetermined flameproof gap limit.

Method of forming a flameproof housing

A robotic apparatus moveable between a bipod mode and a tripod mode includes a housing, a first leg and a second leg extending from the housing, and a retractable third leg positioned between the first leg and the second leg. The third leg is configured to extend from the housing in the tripod mode and retract at least partially into the housing in the bipod mode. The robotic apparatus also includes a motor disposed within the housing and a transmission system coupled between the motor and at least one of the first leg, the second leg, and the third leg. The transmission system is configured to move the robotic apparatus between the bipod mode where the first leg and the second leg support the housing and the tripod mode where the first leg, the second leg, and the third leg support the housing.

A multi-body self-propelled device can include a drive body and a coupled head. The drive body can include a spherical housing, an internal drive system within the spherical housing to propel the multi-body self-propelled device, and a magnet holder coupled to the internal drive system to hold a first set of magnetic elements. The drive body can further include a first power source within the spherical housing to power the internal drive system and a first inductive interface. The coupled head can include second set of magnetic elements to establish a magnetic interaction with the first set of magnetic elements through the spherical housing. The coupled head can also include a second power source, and a second inductive interface. The multi-body self-propelled device can transfer power between the coupled head and the drive body via the first and the second inductive interfaces.

A multi-body self-propelled device can include a drive body and a coupled head. The drive body can include a spherical housing and an internal drive system within the spherical housing to propel the multi-body self-propelled device. The drive body can further include a magnet support assembly comprising a rotating portion including a plurality of magnets and a stationary portion comprising one or more magnets. The drive body can further include a yaw motor to drive the rotating portion of the magnet support assembly. The coupled head can include (i) a corresponding rotating portion comprising a plurality of magnets in magnetic interaction, through the spherical housing, with the plurality of magnets of the magnet support assembly, and (ii) a corresponding stationary portion comprising one or more magnets in magnetic interaction with the one or more magnets of the magnet support assembly.
