An articulating instrument cluster, and a system and a method for managing an articulating information panel of a vehicle are provided. The system includes a state detection module to detect a state of the articulating instrument cluster; an information interfacing module to interface with a plurality of systems associated with the vehicle; an orientation module to determine an adjustment to a display based on the detected state; and a display driving module to control the display of the articulating information panel based on the determination of adjustment.

Articulating instrument cluster

An electronic throttle control apparatus includes a powertrain control module having at least two microprocessors. The powertrain control module is coupled to controls an internal combustion engine and an electronic throttle. A main microprocessor is located in the powertrain control module that includes control logic operative to monitor and control the internal combustion engine. A secondary microprocessor is also located in the powertrain control module and is in communication with the main microprocessor. The secondary microprocessor control throttle plate position, while interrogating the main microprocessor to verify correct execution of throttle control software in the main microprocessor. If a malfunction is detected, then the secondary microprocessor disables the internal combustion engine.

Electronic throttle control system

An electronic throttle control apparatus includes a variable voltage generator, such as an H-driver, controlling the positioning effort of an electronic throttle motor by generating a variable voltage signal. A current sensing element is coupled to the H-driver and generates a voltage proportional to motor current. A microprocessor is coupled to the H-driver and the current sensing element. The microprocessor determines electronic motor resistance based upon the voltage generated by the H-driver and the current sensing voltage signal. The microprocessor may then modify controller gains based upon the calculated electronic throttle motor resistance.
