The system includes a handle, an inner cannula extending proximally from the handle, an outer sheath extending proximally from the handle, and a pull member. The outer sheath including an axially collapsible segment and a non-collapsible body. The pull member is coupled between the handle and the axially collapsible segment or the non-collapsible body of the outer sheath. The handle is operable to retract the pull member such that the axially collapsible segment is shortened. The handle may include a spool and an actuator coupled to the pull member in a manner for winding the pull member around the spool. The handle may be shorter than the retraction length of the axially collapsible segment sized for deployment of the prosthesis.

The present invention relates to a medical device and method of forming the medical device. In particular, the present invention relates to a medical device having a tubular membrane structure over a radially expandable structural frame, and to a method of forming the tubular membrane on the radially expandable structural frame. In one aspect, a structural frame is placed over a spinning mandrel and a fiber is electro-statically spun over at least a portion of the structural frame forming a membrane. A transfer sheath may be used between the mandrel and structural frame to prevent the electro-statically spun fiber from adhering to the mandrel. In another aspect, a first membrane is spun over the mandrel before the structural frame is placed over the mandrel. In this aspect, at least a portion of the structural frame is sandwiched between the membranes. The membrane or membranes and structural frame form a fiber spun frame assembly. The fiber spun frame assembly may be coated with an elastic polymer. In addition, the membrane or membranes may go through some post processing to achieve desired characteristics or configurations.

An inner tubular body defines a guidewire lumen extending from a distal guidewire port at the catheter distal end to a proximal port located at a position between the balloon and the hub. A distal leg of the balloon is directly or indirectly affixed to the inner body, and a proximal leg of the balloon is affixed to the distal end of the outer body. The hypotube has an aperture for accepting the inner body proximal end, and a circumferential cut pattern. The cut pattern adds flexibility, and may extend from the hypotube distal end to a position proximal of the proximal guidewire port. The cut pattern may have any desired shape, including a spiral, a helical undulating path, or an overlapping serpentine path with inflection points, for example. The hypotube has a fluid-tight covering such as a heat-shrink polymer, so the outer body supports pressure of an inflation medium. The proximal guidewire port may be positioned on or between the individual portions of the cut pattern, or at a position beyond the cut pattern.
