A heat exchange system for a surgical instrument includes a valve, a load, and a load conduit extending between the valve and the load. The load conduit delivers fluid from the valve to the load. The heat exchange system also includes an exhaust conduit that directs the fluid away from the valve. A portion of the load conduit is positioned so as to thermally transfer heat to a portion of the exhaust conduit.

A cannula insertion tool includes a body having a first end portion, a second end portion, and a grip located between the first end portion and the second end portion. The body defines a channel extending through the first end portion and the grip. The insertion tool also includes a slider having a drive member and an actuator. The drive member is positioned within the channel of the body. The actuator extends outwardly from the second end portion of the body. The insertion tool further includes a needle coupled to the drive member adjacent the first end portion of the body. The needle is movable with the slider between a retracted position, in which the needle is positioned substantially within the first end portion of the body, and an extended position, in which at least a portion of the needle extends outwardly from the first end portion of the body.

A security social network allows registered members to participate in providing security. Persons can register and devices can be registered via a security social media web site. When a security event occurs, a member can notify the security social network, which can notify all registered members and registered devices in the area of the event. Mobile communication devices of members in the area can be controlled to turn on respective cameras, video recorders, audio recorders, microphones, or the like. And, remotely operable devices can be controlled to monitor, record, and/or transmit data. Collaboration of security social network members with private security agencies, law enforcement agencies, neighborhood watch groups, or the like, can provide comprehensive, timely, and effective security.

A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, receiving reaction information from one or more sensors located at a second location that is representative of a reaction by a second user at the second location to the presentation of the personalized content, analyzing the reaction information to determine a response based at least in part on trait information associated with different first users, selecting a second portion of the recorded segments based on a comparison of the determined response with a context identified for each of received recorded segments, and adjusting personalized content to include the selected second portion of the recorded segments. Method and apparatus for providing personalized content

An event based service provides services and/or products based on an event. Services/products are made available to persons attending an event. Services, products, and/or advertisements can be made available to persons via wireless mobile communications devices. The services/products can be made available to persons attending an event. Additionally, advertising space is auctioned allowing the ability to bid for advertising space for advertising services/products via the event based service. Individual providers can offer services/products to a group of people at the same location, and at a time that people may be most interested in the services/products. Access to the event based service can be via service provider offered access points. An individual provider's device can act as a server that enables services/products to be purchased. An individual provider's device can act as a network gateway that enables services/products to be purchased.

Devices, systems, and methods are disclosed which relate to provisioning a universal integrated circuit card (UICC) with multiple services. The UICC enables a wireless communication device to communicate through multiple carriers by using a unique virtual subscriber identity module (SIM) to register with each carrier. The unique virtual SIM is one of a plurality of virtual SIMs stored on and managed by the UICC. A carrier network includes a server for provisioning a new virtual SIM on a UICC over-the-air (OTA) when a new customer requests a service such as voice, data, or other type of service. These UICCs may also include logic to automatically select the best carrier for a voice call depending on the user settings.

The present disclosure provides a system and method for providing content over a television network. The method includes receiving an input that corresponds to a master account, associating the master account with at least one additional account that relates to the provision of content from a content provider and delivering the content over the television network.

An intelligent virtual service agent implemented on a computer platform is assigned a responsibility to automatically interact with different users across a communication network when a predetermined characteristic of content provided by the different users is identified. When the content possesses the predetermined characteristic, account data of the user for an account specific to the user is obtained, and the account data specific to the user is analyzed. The intelligent virtual service agent is assigned to automatically interact with the user based on the account data specific to the user and based on determining that the content possesses the predetermined characteristic.

Implementing a network of intelligent virtual service agents to provide personalized automated responses

An intelligent virtual service agent implemented on a computer platform with a processor and a memory is assigned a responsibility to automatically interact with different users via different mediums across a communication network when a predetermined characteristic of content provided by the users is identified. Content provided by a user is received over the communication network. The content provided by the user is analyzed to determine whether the content provided by the user possesses the predetermined characteristic. A determined is made, based on the analyzing, that the content possesses the predetermined characteristic. The intelligent virtual service agent is assigned to automatically interact with the user based on determining that the content possesses the predetermined characteristic.

A persona determination approach can be utilized to apply digital personas across multiple communications domains. A service gateway can determine whether to transfer a request for communications services to a Persona Determination Mechanism (PDM). The PDM can select a digital persona based on available information and transmit the digital persona to the service gateway. The service gateway can process the communications services based on the selected digital persona or based on the determination not to transfer the request. In some methods, the service gateway can forward the processed request to one or more network elements for further processing. Related systems are also disclosed.

Methods and systems for selecting and implementing digital personas across applications and services

A method includes receiving a request at a provisioning system to enable a set-top box device to function at a temporary location. The method includes authenticating the request at the provisioning system. The method includes identifying, at the provisioning system, a broadband service associated with the set-top box device that is available at the temporary location when the request is authenticated. The method also includes sending a configuration message from the provisioning system to the set-top box device to enable the set-top box device to configure the set-top box to receive the broadband service.

Communications using intelligent virtual service agents are provided by assigning a first individualized responsibility to a first intelligent virtual service agent implemented on at least one computer platform with a processor and a memory, and a second individualized responsibility to a second intelligent virtual service agent implemented on the at least one computer platform. The first intelligent virtual service agent analyzes content provided by a user via a communications medium and determined to fall under the first individualized responsibility of the first intelligent virtual service agent. A method provides for permission-based access to personal information over a communication network. The method includes entering specified owner personal information in an owner terminal, by an owner, to establish a secure owner profile, which is stored in an owner database. The method also includes entering specified user personal information in a user terminal, by a user, to establish a secure user profile, which is stored in a user database. The method further includes entering a user request in the user terminal requesting permission to receive a designated piece of the owner personal information from the secure owner profile. A server determines whether to approve the user request; and provides permission to use the designated piece of the owner personal information to the user over the communication network after the user request is approved by the server.
