The present invention relates to a process for the removal of oxygenates from a gaseous stream also comprising carbon dioxide, said process comprising: a) providing a first gaseous stream comprising one or more mono-olefin(s), at least 100 ppm (by weight) of one or more oxygenates and at least 0.1 wt % carbon dioxide, and b) treating the first gaseous stream to produce a second gaseous stream comprising one or more mono-olefin(s) and at least 0.1 wt % carbon dioxide with reduced oxygenate content, wherein said treating comprises contacting the first gaseous stream with a first aqueous stream and with a first liquid hydrocarbon stream, and c) subsequently treating the second gaseous stream to remove the carbon dioxide therein.

Process for the removal of oxygenates from a gaseous stream

A hydrocarbon conversion process such as an auto-thermal cracking process in which a hydrocarbon feed and a molecular oxygen-containing gas are contacted in a reaction zone in the presence of a catalyst to produce an outlet stream having an oxygen concentration which is at, near or above the flammable limit and in which process a loss of reaction is detected and used as a signal to activate means for mitigating the risk of explosion downstream of the reaction zone. The loss of reaction may be detected for example by a sudden increase in oxygen concentration in the outlet stream and/or a sudden drop in temperature of the outlet stream.

Process and apparatus for detecting a loss of reaction in a hydrocarbon conversion reaction

This invention relates to a process for thermally cracking waste polymer(s) comprising chlorinated polymers in a reactor in the presence of a fluidizing gas and a fluidized bed of solid, particulate fluidizable material at a temperature from 350.degree.-600.degree. C. to cracked products comprising a mixed vapor of lower hydrocarbons which have a chlorine content of less than 50 ppm. In the process, the cracked products emerging from the fluidized bed are passed through one or more guard beds comprising calcium oxide or a compound capable of giving rise to calcium oxide under the reaction conditions maintained at a temperature in the range from 400.degree.-600.degree. C. in such a way that the chlorine content of the product is less than 50 ppm.

Waste processing

This invention relates to novel blowing agents comprising a blend of (A) perfluoro- or partially fluorinated-(cyclo)alkanes and (B) one or more of hydrogenated chlorofluorocarbons, hydrogenated fluorocarbons and a low boiling (cyclo)alkane. These blowing agents perform as well as the conventionally used CFC's but are user friendly and do not have the adverse effect of depletion of the ozone layer. These blowing agents are particularly suited for use in producing foams from synthetic polymers and resins, especially phenolic foams of very low and stable thermal conductivity.

Process for producing improved phenolic foams from phenolic resole resins

This invention relates to a process for cracking waste polymers in a fluidized bed reactor to produce vaporous products comprising primary products which can be further processed, eg in a steam cracker to produce olefins, characterized in that the vaporous products are treated to generate a primary product substantially free of a high molecular weight tail having molecular weights &gt;700 prior to further processing. The removal of the high molecular weight tail minimizes fouling and prolongs the lifetime of the reactors used for further processing.
