Microencapsulated delivery vehicles comprising an active agent are disclosed. In one embodiment, the microencapsulated delivery vehicles are heat delivery vehicles capable of generating heat upon activation. The microencapsulated heat delivery vehicles may be introduced into wet wipes such that, upon activation, the wet wipe solution is warmed resulting in a warm sensation on a user's skin. Any number of other active ingredients, such as cooling agents and biocides, can also be incorporated into a microencapsulated delivery vehicle.

A void volume indicator, a packaging system, and a method of consumer product selection are disclosed. The void volume indicator can have either a primary wetness indicator, a secondary wetness indicator, or both that corresponds to a portion of a package having either a primary capacity indicator, a secondary capacity indicator, or both. After using the void volume indicator, feedback from the indicator can be used to select an absorbent article having an appropriate absorbent capacity for the person's needs.

Disclosed is a laminate and absorbent articles made from the laminate where it can be used as an outer cover. In one embodiment, the laminate includes: a liquid-impermeable first layer having a first surface, a second layer having an interior surface adjacent the first surface and an exterior surface, at least a portion of the interior surface is joined to the first surface by an adhesive applied to the exterior surface, and the adhesive having a first bond peel strength of about 1 g/mm or greater. In another embodiment, the laminate induces: a liquid-impermeable first layer having a first surface, a nonwoven second layer having an interior surface adjacent the first surface and an exterior surface, at least a portion of the interior surface is joined to the first surface by first bonds having a first bond peel strength about 1 g/mm or greater, and at least a portion of the interior surface is joined to the first surface by second bonds having a second bond peel strength about 3 g/mm or less.

An absorbent article having a narrow crotch portion and elasticized shield shields is disclosed. The absorbent article has a fit factor defined as the minimum crotch width divided by the effective height of the side shields. In one embodiment, the absorbent article includes and an absorbent structure having a central portion defined by a width about 65 millimeters or less, and a length about 50 millimeters or greater, and the absorbent article having a fit factor less than about 7.0.

An absorbent article having a bodyside liner includes a hydrophilic lotion formulation on the outer bodyfacing surface thereof. The hydrophilic lotion formulation comprises from about 10 to about 90 weight percent of a hydrophilic solvent, from about 5 to about 90 weight percent of a high molecular weight polyethylene glycol, and from about 0 to about 60 weight percent of a fatty alcohol. The hydrophilic lotion formulation has a reduced adverse effect on the absorbent and liquid uptake properties of the liner and the absorbent body when compared to conventional lipophilic or hydrophobic lotion formulations. The hydrophilic lotion formulation acts as a lubricant to reduce the abrasion of the skin caused by the liner and also transfers to the skin to provide improved skin health.

An absorbent article includes a vapor permeable backsheet, a liquid permeable topsheet positioned in facing relation with the backsheet; and an absorbent body located between the backsheet and the topsheet. The absorbent body may include multiple zones of high air permeability. The absorbent article may also include a ventilation layer between the absorbent body and the backsheet and a surge management layer between the absorbent body and the topsheet. The article exhibits improved air exchange within the article during use. As a result, the article maintains the temperature and exhibits substantially reduced levels of hydration of the wearer's skin when in use which renders the skin less susceptible to the viability of microorganisms. The absorbent article may further include lotion formulations and/or treatment compositions thereon for maintaining or improving skin health.

Methods and systems for making an absorbent pad for use in an absorbent article utilize a forming device for forming material into an absorbent core, a supply device for supplying a containment layer against the first surface of the absorbent core and spray apparatus for spraying fibers of molten resin onto the second surface of the absorbent core. The fibers form a stabilization layer on the absorbent core that increases the integrity of the absorbent core. The spray apparatus includes a nozzle having a resin aperture for exhausting resin therefrom and multiple gas apertures for exhausting gas therefrom to provide a random pattern to the fibers of molten resin as the fibers are sprayed onto the second surface. Resin can also be sprayed onto first and second portions of the containment layer extending outwardly from edges of the absorbent core so the containment layer and the stabilization layer encompass the absorbent core. In another embodiment, a second containment layer can be placed on the second surface of the absorbent core and first and second stabilization layers can be spaced outwardly therefrom and deposited on the absorbent core.

Apparatus for making an absorbent pad for use in absorbent articles

A surfactant and skin wellness composition useful for imparting durability and wettability to a substrate as well as skin wellness, includes a first surfactant in combination with aloe vera. The first surfactant includes a compound selected from ethoxylated hydrogenated fatty oils, monosaccharides, monosaccharide derivatives, polysaccharides, polysaccharide derivatives, and combinations thereof. Other ingredients can also be added. The composition can be applied as an aqueous emulsion to a substrate such as a nonwoven web, to provide enhanced wettability combined with skin enhancement to the wearer.

Method and composition for treating substrates for wettability and skin wellness

An absorbent article having a bodyside liner includes a lotion formulation on the outer bodyfacing surface thereof. The lotion formulation comprises from about 5 to about 95 weight percent of an emollient, from about 5 to about 95 weight percent of a wax, and, optionally, from about 0.1 to about 25 weight percent of a viscosity enhancer. The lotion formulation has a reduced level of migration which leads to improved transfer to the skin. The lotion formulation acts as a lubricant to reduce the abrasion of the skin caused by the liner and also transfers to the skin to provide improved skin health.
