A method for detecting anomalies during operation of an asset to improve performance of the asset includes collecting, via a server, data relating to operation of the asset or a group of assets containing the asset. The data includes normal and abnormal asset behavior of the asset or the group of assets containing the asset. Further, the method includes automatically removing, via an iterative algorithm programmed in the server that utilizes one or more inputs or outputs of an anomaly detection analytic, portions of the data containing the abnormal asset behavior to form a dataset containing only the normal asset behavior. The method also includes training, via a computer-based model programmed in the server, the anomaly detection analytic using, at least, the dataset containing only the normal asset behavior. Moreover, the method includes applying, via the server, the anomaly detection analytic to the asset so as to monitor for anomalies during operation thereof.

In one aspect, a method for assessing the performance impact of wind turbine upgrades may generally include determining a baseline power curve for a wind turbine prior to the wind turbine being upgraded and determining a baseline wind speed transfer function for the wind turbine prior to the wind turbine being upgraded. The method may also include determining an upgraded wind speed transfer function for the wind turbine after the wind turbine is upgraded. In addition, the method may include determining a corrected local wind speed for the wind turbine based on the baseline and upgraded wind speed transfer functions and determining an upgraded power curve for the wind turbine based on the corrected local wind speed.

System and method for assessing the performance impact of wind turbine upgrades

The present disclosure is directed to a system and method for protecting a rotary machine in a high noise environment. In one embodiment, the method includes a step of measuring a vibration signal during operation of the rotary machine. Another step includes modulating the vibration signal at a desired frequency to generate a modulated signal having a direct current (DC) value. The desired frequency varies as a function of an operational parameter of the rotary machine. The method also includes a step of filtering the modulated signal via one or more low-pass filters. Another step includes comparing an amplitude of the filtered signal to a threshold amplitude for one or more components of the rotary machine. The threshold amplitude is indicative of an imbalance within one or more components of the rotary machine. The rotary machine is then operated based on the comparison so as to protect the rotary machine from damage caused by the imbalance within the one or more components of the rotary machine.

System and method for protecting rotary machines

A method for starting-up a wind turbine having a rotor with at least one rotor blade is provided. The method includes rotating the at least one rotor blade towards a main operating position using a pitch drive system including a pitch bearing supporting the at least one rotor blade, and a pitch-driving pinion meshing with the pitch bearing; and activating a pump to feed a lubricant to a lubrication pinion meshing with one of the pitch bearing and the pitch-driving pinion before the at least one rotor blade reaches the main operating position so that the lubricant is mainly transferred to a load portion of the pitch bearing and/or a load portion of the pitch-driving pinion. Further, a control assembly for use with the wind turbine is provided.

Start-up method for a wind turbine and a control assembly

A device and method for use in detecting anomalies in wind turbines is provided. The method includes monitoring data acquired by at least one sensor in a first wind turbine, wherein the data is calculated to produce a value for a predetermined amount of time, monitoring data acquired by at least one sensor in a grouping of wind turbines similar to the first wind turbine, wherein the monitored data corresponds to the monitored data of the first wind turbine and is combined for a predetermined amount of time, and comparing the monitored data of the first wind turbine with the monitored data of the grouping of wind turbines. The method also includes generating a sensor error if the monitored data of the first wind turbine deviates more than a predetermined amount from the monitored data of the grouping of wind turbines, and displaying the results of the comparison of the monitored data.
