An apparatus and a method for fabricating a magnetic material with variable magnetic alignment are disclosed. For example, the apparatus includes a reservoir storing magnetic particles, a heater coupled to the reservoir to melt the magnetic particles, a nozzle coupled to the reservoir to receive the magnetic particles that are melted, wherein the nozzle includes a rotatable collar that includes at least one magnet, a platform below the nozzle to receive the magnetic particles that are melted that are dispensed by the nozzle, and a controller communicatively coupled to the heater, the nozzle, and the platform to control operation of the heater, the nozzle, the rotatable collar of the nozzle, and the platform.

Apparatus and method for variable magnetic alignment in fused deposition modeling (FDM) magnets

A shaped ceramic or metallic object is formed by sectioning a model of a shaped body into 2-dimensional slices. For each slice, a toner material is electrostatically printed on a polymer sheet. The toner material includes solid particles. The printed sheets are assembled into a stack and the stack is depolymerized and sintered to form the ceramic object.

Xerographic 3D printing method for forming shaped objects

Exemplary embodiments provide a fuser member containing an intermediate layer and methods for forming the intermediate layer and the fuser member. In one embodiment, the fuser member can include a substrate, a resilient layer, a surface layer and an intermediate layer disposed between the resilient layer (e.g., a silicone rubber layer) and the surface layer (e.g., a fluoroplastic of PFA or PTEE). The intermediate layer can include a CNT/polymer composite containing a plurality of carbon nanotubes in a polymer matrix. The surface layer and the fuser member can thus be treated at a temperature of about 250&#xb0; C. or higher.

The present teachings include a coating composition which includes a liquid, fluoropolymer particles, carbon nanotubes, and a dispersant. The dispersant has a thermal degradation temperature below the melting temperature of the fluoropolymer particles.

Fuser coating composition and method of manufacture

According to an embodiment a method of making a fuser member is described. The method includes, obtaining a silicone layer disposed on a substrate and coating a primer composition including an aqueous dispersion of a fluorelastomer and a curing agent on the silicone layer. A topcoat composition is coated on the primer composition which includes a fluoroplastic dispersion. The primer composition and the topcoat composition are heated to form the fuser member.

The present teachings provide a fuser system for use in a xerographic apparatus. The fuser system includes a fuser roller and a pressure roller. The fuser roller and the pressure roller create a nip. The fuser roller has an outer layer of carbon nanotubes dispersed in a fluoropolymer wherein the carbon nanotubes comprise from about 0.1 weight percent to about 10 weight percent of the outer layer. The pressure roller comprises a static dissipative outer surface having a surface resistivity of less than about 10&#x3a9;/cm.

Methods for powder coating that include applying a powder coating composition to a substrate via an electrostatic gun. The powder coating composition includes a mixture of two or more materials having different densities, such as a mixture of aerogel particles and fluoropolymer-containing particles. The electrostatic gun can have a high-voltage generator that generates a negative polarity voltage between about 0 KV and about 100 KV during application of the powder coating composition, and the electrostatic gun can have a round spray nozzle. Methods of making fuser members using such powder coating methods, fuser members prepared by such methods, and methods of preparing low gloss images using such fuser members.

Apparatuses useful for printing and methods of treating marking material on media are provided. An exemplary embodiment of the apparatuses includes a first member including a first outer surface; and a roll including a second outer surface forming a nip with the first outer surface. The second outer surface includes an inner portion having first and second axially-spaced edges, a roughened first high-friction surface axially outward from the first edge and a roughened second high-friction surface axially outward from the second edge. The first and second high-friction surfaces extend circumferentially around the roll and have a higher roughness than the inner portion. The inner portion and the first and second high-friction surfaces contact the first outer surface at the nip, and the first and second high-friction surfaces lie outside of a media path through the nip.

Apparatuses useful for printing and methods of treating marking material on media

This is a process to restore compression set properties of a silicone rubber fuser structure that has been damaged during the coating of the silicone with Teflon; Teflon is a registered trademark of DuPont. This restoration is achieved by re-baking the coated fuser roll at temperatures of 175&#xb0; C. to 275&#xb0; C. This will improve the compression set and will give the fuser structure improved life and provide better image quality.

A mold for use in a molding machine for manufacturing a magnetic roll for use in an electrophotographic printing machine of the type having an electrostatic latent image recorded on a photoconductive member is provided. The mold includes a body and an insert. The body defines a surface of the body. The insert is positioned at least partially against the surface of the body. The insert defines an inner surface of the insert. The inner surface is adapted to conform to at least a portion of the periphery of the roll. The insert may be replaced when worn and the body may be reused with a replacement insert.

Method for manufacturing magnetic rolls

A method for manufacturing a magnetic roll, including the steps of: molding a roll core with ferrite filled resin material to a first diameter; allowing the ferrite filled resin material to become hard; overmolding said roll core with ferrite filled resin material to a second diameter; and cooling the ferrite filled resin material until it becomes hard. The core is magnetized during said molding step and said overmolding step. The method may further include enclosing the core within a sleeve.

Method for making a magnetic roll

A mounting which supports a bearing in a machine frame. The mounting is molded with the bearing being molded integrally therewith in an aperture therein. The outer race of the bearing is in molded non-rotative engagement with the mounting. The mounting has a plurality of mounting supports. At least one of the mounting supports is adapted to be received by the frame.
