A process for the production of a mono-olefin from a feedstock comprising a paraffinic hydrocabon which process comprises a) partially combusting at a pressure of at least (15) barg a mixture of the hydrocarbon feed and a molecular oxygen-containing gas in contact with a catalyst capable of supporting combustion beyond the normal fuel rich limit of flammability where they are reacted to form a product comprising one or more mono-olefin(s), carbon monoxide and hydrogen and b) recovering the one or more olefin(s).

Production of olefins

A process for the production of an olefin comprising partially combusting in a reaction zone a mixture of a hydrocarbon and an oxygen-containing gas in the presence of a catalyst which is capable of supporting combustion beyond the fuel rich limit of flammability to produce the olefin, wherein the superficial feed velocity of said mixture is at least 250 cm s?-1? at standard temperature and operating pressure with the proviso that where the catalyst is an unsupported catalyst, the superficial feed velocity of said mixture is at least 300 cm sat standard temperature and operating pressure.

Process for the production of olefins

A process for the production of an olefin from a hydrocarbon by autothermal cracking, which process comprises: partially combusting the hydrocarbon and an oxygen-containing gas in the presence of a catalyst, wherein the stoichiometric ratio of hydrocarbon to oxygen is 5 to 16 times the stoichiometric ratio of hydrocarbon to oxygen required for complete combustion of the hydrocarbon to carbon dioxide and water, characterised in that the catalyst comprises palladium and at least one further metal being a Group IIIA, Group IVA, VA, a transition metal or a lanthanide.

Process for the production of an olefin comprising partially combusting in a reaction zone a mixture of a hydrocarbon and an oxygen-containing gas in the presence of a catalyst which is capable of supporting combustion beyond the fuel rich limit of flammability to produce the olefin. The superficial feed velocity of the mixture is at least 250 cm sat standard temperature and operating pressure, with the proviso that where the catalyst is an unsupported catalyst, the superficial feed velocity of the mixture is at least 300 cm sat standard temperature and operating pressure. The process is carried out at a pressure of at least 1.3 bara and the reaction zone is not externally heated.

Process for the production of an olefin from a hydrocarbon, which process comprises contacting the hydrocarbon and a molecular oxygen-containing gas with a catalyst under auto-thermal conditions sufficient to produce the olefin. The catalyst comprises a component (a) and a component (b), wherein component (a) is at least one metal selected from Group IIIA, Group IVA, Group VA and the transition metals and component (b) is at least one transition metal. The catalyst does not comprise either palladium or platinum.

Process for the conversion of synthesis gas to a product comprising liquid hydrocarbons and oxygenates. The process includes contacting synthesis gas at an elevated temperature and pressure with a mixed particulate catalyst comprising a mixture of a particulate Fischer-Tropsch catalyst and a particulate oxygenate synthesis catalyst.

Fischer-tropsch process

Process for producing a mono-olefin from a feedstock containing a paraffinic hydrocarbon comprising feeding a gaseous paraffinic hydrocarbon-containing feedstock and a molecular oxygen-containing gas to an autothermal cracker wherein they are reacted in the presence of a catalyst capable of supporting combustion beyond the normal fuel rich limit of flammability to produce a product comprising one or more mono-olefin(s) and synthesis gas, and wherein the autothermal cracker is operated at a temperature greater than 650&deg; C. and at a pressure of greater than 5 bar absolute. The product is separated into a high pressure fuel gas stream comprising methane, carbon monoxide and hydrogen and a stream comprising one or more olefins and recovering the one or more olefin(s). The high pressure fuel gas stream comprising methane, carbon monoxide and hydrogen separated in the second step is passed to a Fischer-Tropsch reactor containing a Fischer-Tropsch catalyst, wherein the stream is converted to hydrocarbons and wherein the Fischer-Tropsch is operated at a pressure of between 5-50bar absolute. Thereafter at least part of the hydrocarbon product is recovered.

Process for the preparation of mono-olefins from paraffinic hydrocarbons

A process for the production of olefins from a hydrocarbon comprising the steps of: a) providing a first feed stream comprising a gaseous fuel and an oxygen-containing gas; b) contacting the first feed stream with a first catalyst under conditions so as to produce a product stream and unreacted oxygen; c) providing a second feed stream of hydrocarbon feedstock; and d) contacting the second feed stream, the product stream of step b) and the unreacted oxygen step b) with a second catalyst which is capable of supporting oxidation, thereby consuming at least a part of the unreacted oxygen to produce an olefin product.

Process for the production of a mono-olefin and a hydrocarbon fraction boiling in the diesel range in which (I) a gaseous paraffinic hydrocarbon-containing feedstock and a molecular oxygen-containing gas are fed to an autothermal cracker wherein they are reacted in the presence or absence of a catalyst capable of supporting combustion beyond the normal fuel rich limit of flammability under conditions whereby the feedstock is oxidatively dehydrogenated to a product comprising one or more mono-olefin(s) and synthesis gas. The product from step (I) is separated into synthesis gas and one or more mono-olefin(s) and the one or more mono-olefin(s) are recovered. Synthesis gas separated in step (II), optionally together with additional synthesis gas, is fed to a Fischer Tropsch (FT) reactor containing an FT catalyst wherein the synthesis gas is reacted under FT conditions to produce an FT product containing naphtha and hydrocarbons boiling in the diesel range.

A process for the conversion of a liquid paraffin-containing hydrocarbon which comprises the steps of (a) partially combusting a mixture of the liquid hydrocarbon and a molecular oxygen-containing gas in a reaction chamber with a catalyst capable of supporting combustion beyond the normal fuel rich limit of flammability. The mixture has a stoichiometric ratio of hydrocarbon to oxygen of greater than the stoichiometric ratio required for complete combustion to carbon dioxide and water. The process produces a product stream and a carbon deposit in the reaction chamber. Periodically, the liquid hydrocarbon and molecular oxygen-containing gas mixture in step (a) is replaced with a fuel-rich carbon containing gas stream for a period of time sufficient to effect substantial removal of the carbon deposit from the reaction chamber.

Hydrocarbon conversion process

A process for the production of mono-olefins from a hydrocarbon feed containing one or more paraffinic hydrocarbons having at least two carbon atoms, the process comprising partial combustion of a mixture of the hydrocarbon feed and a molecular oxygen-containing gas in contact in a reaction chamber with a catalyst capable of supporting combustion beyond the normal fuel rich limit of flammability to produce heat of reaction, the reaction chamber being adapted such that at least part of the heat of reaction is transferred to the incoming feed and the velocity of the incoming feed is maintained at a value above the burning velocity of the feed mixture.

Process for the production of mono-olefins

A process for the production of mono-olefins from a paraffin-containing hydrocarbon feed having at least two carbon atoms which comprises a first step of partially combusting a mixture of the hydrocarbon feed and a molecular oxygen-containing gas in contact with a catalyst capable of supporting combustion beyond the normal fuel rich limit of flammability, the first step being carried out under a total pressure of greater than 5 bar absolute and at a temperature of greater than 650.degree. C.; and a second step of cooling the mono-olefinic products to 600.degree. C. or less within less than 50 milliseconds of formation.
