A thermal printer mechanism includes a print head assembly for locating a print head at a predetermined optimum position for printing or at a cleaning position and an adjustable guide path assembly for maintaining the center line of print stock aligned with the centerline of the print head for different widths of stock. The print head assembly includes a print head supported by a mounting bracket so that the head is maintained in a predetermined fixed position with respect to the platen shaft. A head force bracket sums the force from a pair of springs and applies it via a pivot shaft to the midpoint of the line of tangency of the print head with the platen roller so that the print head 'floats' on the roller. The print head assembly can be pivoted from the printing position to a cleaning position by changing the positions of pins in a pair of camming slots. The print stock guide path assembly includes left and right guide racks engaged by a common pinion so that the width of the guide path may be easily adjusted while maintaining the center line of the guide path aligned with the center line of the print head.

Printer mechanism

A handwriting capture device which employs a highly sensitive digitizer to accurately capture signature information entered using a writing force greater than or equal to a predetermined writing force. The handwriting capture device includes a housing having a top surface, a resistive membrane digitizer mounted in the top surface and having a low pattern density, a layer of urethane rubber for frictionally holding the receipt in place, circuitry for processing digitizer information, a clamp for retaining a receipt in place over the digitizer during movement of the device, and circuitry for sensing the presence of the receipt and for activating data capture by the digitizer when the receipt is positioned under the clamp. In the preferred embodiment, the clamp also serves to minimize finger contact with the digitizer.

Handwriting capture device

There is disclosed a mounting structure for a CRT display which includes a pair of tubular support members with the first one secured to a ceiling surface and the second one slidably mounted within the first one. Knobs are included to lock the second support member in an adjusted position within the first support member. A yoke assembly secured to one end of the second tubular support member includes a yoke member secured to the support member, a tray member rotatably secured to the yoke member for supporting the display and adapted to be rotated to an adjusted position, a strap member secured to the yoke member for holding the display on the tray member and a locking knob for locking the tray member in the adjusted position.

Overhead mount for a CRT

A housing for containing a plurality of circuit boards in a compact arrangement includes upper and lower housing portions which can be secured to each other by easily releasable securing devices. A first circuit board disposed on a base surface of the lower housing portion, and a vertically disposed bus circuit board mounted in a frame on the upper housing portion and having connectors electrically engageable with receptacles on the first circuit board. A plurality of horizontally disposed additional circuit boards having connectors electrically engageable with horizontally disposed receptacles secured to both sides of the bus circuit board, at least certain of the additional circuit boards having a width extending outwardly from the connectors which is greater than the vertical distance between the first circuit board and a portion of the upper housing portion.

Housing for electronic components

A business machine assembly such as a cash register includes a plurality of hook members secured to the lower surface of the cash register positioned within corresponding slots in a support member. A cash drawer is slidably mounted within the support member between a open and closed position. The cash register further includes a pair of depending stop members secured to the lower surface of the cash register and positioned adjacent the rear edge of the cash drawer when the cash drawer is in a closed position blocking movement of the cash register on the support member thereby preventing the hook members from being disengaged from the slots when the cash drawer is in a closed position.

Theft proof cash drawer assembly

A quick release tilt and swivel apparatus supports a structure such as an alphanumeric plasma display associated with a electronic cash register. The apparatus includes a pair of spaced-apart lug members mounted on a pair of fingers extending outwardly from a base member which are inserted within a socket portion of the display for enabling the display to be tilted and swiveled about the cash register. The display includes a flexible wall portion for enabling the display to be quickly mounted and released from the base member. The display and the lug members are molded of a plastic material and are dimensioned to allow the lug member to deform the socket portion of the display for holding the display in any number of settable positions.

Display support mechanism

An electrical connector panel includes a two-piece knock-out plug having a raised portion formed in a configuration of a first electrical connector member and a portion flush with the surface of the panel member which when removed in conjunction with the removal of the raised portion provides an aperture which can accommodate a second electrical connector member having a size different from the first electrical connector member.

Multiple size connector panel and method for constructing

A structure for housing a data terminal device having a printer and a disk drive memory unit includes a rear portion having a cover member covering the printer and a display member rotatably mounted on a front portion of the housing structure for movement to a viewing position covering the front end of the disk drive member from view. A locking mechanism is included to allow the cover member to be unlocked using a first key member and for unlocking the display member from the viewing position using a second key member wherein the display member is moved to a position allowing access to the disk drive memory unit to occur.

Housing for data terminal device

A feed mechanism for moving a record member into a printing position in which a single control solenoid is energized to enable a pair of drive rollers to move a multi-form record member from a holding position to a printing position. Operation of the solenoid further moves a platen member into engagement with the record member which is spring urged to enable the platen to apply a force on the record member. The force on the platen is selected to compensate for the thickness of the record member allowing a dot matrix printer to print satisfactorily on record members of varying thicknesses. The drive rollers are normally positioned to locate a record member in a validating printing position. Spring means are associated with the drive rollers to engage and hold the record member in a printing position during the operation of the solenoid.

Record member feed and support mechanism

The action of a rotatable cam assembly positions a plurality of type racks, enables printing and indexes paper prior to restoring the type racks to the home position. Teeth on the cam assembly engage teeth on the type racks for positioning thereof and an extended tooth on the cam assembly causes impact of the racks against a platen which is caused to be rotated by movement of the cam assembly to index the paper to the next print line.

Low energy impact printer

There is disclosed a low cost manually-operated compact card reader for reading magnetically or similarly encoded record cards or the like, the reader including a guide support assembly for guiding and supporting a manually inserted card, a carriage slidably mounted on the support assembly and engaged by the inserted card for movement thereby to an actuated position, an energy storing drive member secured to the carriage and operated by the movement of the carriage to said actuated position to return the carriage and the card past a reading member, and a velocity limiting device including a rotating member secured to the carriage for limiting the return movement of the carriage and the card to a constant velocity past the reading member.
