Gas powered semi-automatic airgun action

An arrow gun is provided having a controllable retention force on the arrow. By setting the retention force on the arrow, increased energy from motive compressed gas can be imparted to the arrow. The arrow gun also includes a damping coupling for reducing vibration of an unsupported length of the barrel.

A linear bolt mechanism for a gun is provided, wherein a bolt moves between a firing position and an open position through linear motion, without requiring rotation of the bolt. The bolt includes a seating socket which engages a locking pin to permit travel of the bolt upon disposing the locking pin in a traveling position. The seating socket also engages the locking pin when the locking pin engages the locking socket, thereby precluding movement of the bolt with the locking pin in the locking position.

A pre-charged pneumatic airgun includes a reservoir, a stopper, a barrel and a manually actuated degassing tool. The reservoir contains a volume of compressed fluid and includes a discharge port disposed therein through which the compressed fluid is selectively discharged from the reservoir. The stopper is disposed in the discharge port and is moveable between a normal position sealing the discharge port in an actuated position allowing passage of the compressed air through the discharge port. The stopper is biased to the normal position by a biasing force. The barrel is in fluid communication with the discharge port. When the stopper is disposed in the discharged position, the compressed fluid discharged through the discharge port is further exhausted through the barrel. The manually actuated degassing tool is disposed in the air gun for manually overcoming the biasing force to move the stopper from a normal position to the actuated position, and for maintaining the stopper in the actuated position to degas the reservoir.

A magazine assembly presents a pressure cartridge to a compressed gas powered device, such as a gun, wherein the magazine assembly has a cartridge support biased with respect to a magazine to urge the pressure cartridge to a short (or seated) position, wherein an interlock plate is biased to engage the cartridge support. The bias on the interlock plate is overcome during insertion of the magazine assembly into a magazine chamber, at which point the cartridge support moves relative to the magazine in response to a seated length of the pressure cartridge. The bias on the interlock plate then controls the positioning of the interlock plate to engage the cartridge support and retain the pressure cartridge relative to the magazine assembly. A lever connected to the gun then engages the magazine assembly to translate the magazine assembly relative to the gun and pierce the pressure cartridge.

An adjustable front sight includes a carrier with a spiral sighting blade mounted for rotation within a base attached directly or indirectly to a barrel. A progression of sight lands is formed along a peripheral surface of the spiral sighting blade. Rotation of the carrier in opposite directions moves different sight lands into a sighting position at varying heights above the barrel for making elevation adjustments.

A BB holder for a gun comprises an elongated cylindrical body having a cylindrical side wall, a bottom wall, and an open top end and a cap having a cylindrical side wall which is ensleeved over the cylindrical side wall of the body. The holder has the shape and size of a shot gun shell and is stored in a chamber in the stock of a gun. If the gun has a BB reservoir, the BB reservoir can communicate with the chamber through a port opening which is closed when the holder is inserted into the chamber.
