A system includes an output terminal to couple to an electrical load and a plurality of power supplies coupled in parallel. Each of the power supplies includes a controller configured to monitor a power output of a downstream power supply and a power output of an upstream power supply, maintain a standby state of the power supply in response to the downstream power supply providing power below a first threshold value, transition the power supply to an voltage regulation state in response to the downstream power supply providing power above the first threshold value, and provide a maximum power in response to the upstream power supply providing power above a second threshold value. The standby state represents a state in which a power output of the power supply is 0%, and the voltage regulation state representing a state in which the power output of the power supply is above 0%.

Autonomous system and method for redundancy management of multiple power supplies

An NPC converter is controlled by estimating current flow during the short vector periods of a space vector modulation drive signal. The current estimation is used to close a first order inner current regulator loop that steers current to either the upper capacitor or the lower capacitor of a DC link. An outer voltage regulator measures the voltage imbalance across the capacitors and drives the inner current loop. By managing the associated duty cycle of each vector a bias current is formed that balances the capacitor voltages.

A system and method for controlling a microturbine generator system comprising: providing a computer control unit; providing a utility power grid sensor input line to the computer control unit; and providing a utility power grid disconnect command output line from the computer control unit; and causing, via the computer control unit, automatic transitions of the microturbine generator system between at least four states, the at least four states comprising a generator standby backup mode, a generator standalone mode, a transfer to standby backup mode, and a generator startup battery charging mode.

A power generation system includes multiple generators that are operated in parallel. An inverter of one of the generators is always operated in voltage mode. Inverters of the other generators are switched between voltage and current modes.

Supply of ac current from the marina source to the boat's DC loads is permitted only when an isolation relay completes the electrical circuit therebetween. A control means monitor the boats battery voltage, battery charger current and DC load current, and supplies operating current to the isolation relay only when those monitored conditions indicate a need for the supply of current from the on-shore source to the boat. The duration in which the on-shore ground lead is connected to the boat's ground system, a customary path for electrolysis currents, and corrosion damage caused by those currents, and the duration of consumption of on-shore electricity, are thus limited.
