A plastic film bag assembly includes a bag having front and back walls joined together and defining an opening leading to a cavity. A header portion extends from the back wall for supporting the bag on a structure. A severance line extends across the header and includes tear sections extending inwardly from each of the header side edges. The severance line also includes support sections adjacent and inwardly of the tear sections. The support sections have a strength per unit length of severance line which is greater than the tear sections strength per unit length of severance line whereby, when severing the bag away from the header, a greater force is required for severing along the severance line support sections than the force required for severing along the tear sections. In use, the bag front wall lip is grasped and pulled away from the header for separating complementary profiles and opening the bag. The header tear sections are severed until reaching the support sections. The bag is retained open by continued pulling on the lip with a force insufficient for severing the support sections. Product is then placed in the bag and the lip is pulled with a sufficiently greater force for severing along the severance line support sections thereby severing the bag away from the header. For use in temporarily storing produce, the bags include a gusset for expansion and holes through the bag front and back walls for allowing air to enter the bag cavity.

Plastic film bag assembly and process of filling

A selectively closeable plastic film bag structure includes front, middle and rear panels forming a first bag between the front and middle panels and a second bag between the middle and rear panels. A first adhesive strip between the middle and rear panels extends between terminal ends at the second bag side edges. The front and rear panels extend above the middle panel and a second adhesive strip between the front and rear panels extends between terminal ends at the first bag side edges. A release liner is provided over the adhesive strips and retaining the bags open for placing product therein. By removing the release liner, the first bag is closed with the adhesive strip between the front and rear panels and the second bag is closed with the adhesive strip between the middle and rear panels.

Selectively closeable plastic film bag structure

A selectively closeable plastic film bag is formed with front and rear plastic film panels. The bag includes a bottom and side edges and each of the front and rear panels include a top edge whereat an opening is provided into the bag cavity. An adhesive strip is provided on the inside surface of the front or rear panels extending longitudinally thereacross between the bag side edges. The adhesive strip is placed in a pattern extending at an angle upwardly from each of the side edges to a generally linear portion therebetween. A release liner is provided between the front and rear panels and is located partially over or above the adhesive strip at the side edges and below the linear adhesive strip portion. The adhesive strip portion covered by the release liner is prevented from coming in contact with the other bag panel thereby retaining the bag open. The release liner is detachably attachable to the adhesive strip. For closing the bag, the release liner is pulled out from between the panels causing the adhesive strip to come in contact therewith. The adhesive strip extends uninterrupted from side edge to side edge thereby making the closure leakproof. Pocket panels are attached to the bag thereby forming pockets for selectively receiving items therein. The front and rear panels are provided with weakened material lines extending between the side edges for easily ripping and gaining access to the bag cavity. To prevent fusing of the release liner to the front and rear panels, both the release liner and front and rear panels are cut away at the bag side edges above the adhesive. The release liner extends above the front and rear panels top edges or into notched areas at the bag side edges whereat it may easily be gripped.

Selectively closeable plastic film bag

Snap and fill plastic film bags and a process of opening and placing product in the plastic film bags. A reclosable zipper is provided at the opening of the bag leading to the bag cavity. A lip extends from the front wall above the reclosable zipper and a header portion extends from the back wall above the reclosable zipper. A part of the header portion is supported on a support structure for carrying the bag and a perforation is provided on the header portion above the reclosable zipper. The bags are initially closed and, during the process of opening and placing product therein, the operator grips the bag front wall lip and by pulling the lip away from the support structure, the complementary zipper profiles are separated and, thus, opening the bag. Further pulling of the lip from the support structure causes the severing of the bag from the header portion at the perforation. Thereafter, the operator places product in the bag cavity through the bag opening and the zipper profiles are joined for closing the bag and sealing the products therein.

Snap and fill plastic film bags and process

A suspendable bag adapted for suspending on a structure and opening, filling, and severing away therefrom. A suspension wall extends from the bags and includes suspension holes adapted to receive suspension pegs located on the structure. A score line is provided below the suspension holes and a support hole is provided below the score line and above the bag. The support hole is adapted to receive a support bag located on the structure. During operation, the support hole, in conjunction with the support peg, allows the opening of a reclosable zipper at the mouth of the bag by only pulling on a lip connected to the front wall of the bag. The support hole, in conjunction with the support peg, further supports the back portion of the bag while the bag is being filled with various products.

Suspendable bag and support structure

A method and apparatus for use in extruding a plastic film with integral interlocking closure members. A flat plastic film and integral closure members are extruded through a single die opening. An air knife is used to push the extruded plastic film towards a chill roll and aids in the cooling of the film. The chill roll is rotatably driven and substantially cools the flat portion of the plastic film. Nozzles direct chilled air at the closure members. Cooling shoes are placed in close proximity to the extruded closure member and cool down and solidify the closure members. The cooling shoes are also used for shaping the closure members. The cooling shoes may be located adjacent the chill roll or adjacent a backing plate.
