An eAxle having a housing, an electric motor supported by the housing, a differential coupled to the electric motor and supported by the housing, a source of pressurized oil, and an oil feed line coupled to the source of pressurized oil. The housing includes an inlet configured to supply oil from the oil feed line to an interior of the housing and the differential.

An electric axle assembly includes a banjo axle housing, first and second half shafts, and an electric drive unit. The banjo axle housing has a central portion that defines a receiving space and first and second openings providing access to the receiving space, first and second beams extending from the central portion in opposite first and second axial directions, and defining first and second beam hollows in communication with the receiving space. The half shafts extend within the first and second beam hollows. The electric drive unit includes a motor, a differential, and a housing having first and second housing components. At least one of the first and second housing components defines a motor housing region, the first and second housing components define a gearbox region, and the first and second housing components define first and second apertures that provide access for coupling the half shafts with the differential.

Electric axle assembly for a vehicle

A housing half for a stamped steel differential housing including an outer annular ring and a radially outer cylindrical protrusion with a gear portion. The housing half is integrally formed from a single piece of material. In an example embodiment, the housing half is formed by stamping. In an example embodiment, the gear portion is formed by broaching or rolling. In some example embodiments, the housing half also includes a first pocket arranged for receiving a portion of a first end of a pinion pin and a second pocket, circumferentially opposite the first pocket, arranged for receiving a portion of a second end of the pinion pin. A stamped steel differential housing including the housing half and a stamped steel differential assembly including the stamped steel differential housing are also disclosed.

An electric motor arranged for mounting to a combustion engine includes an axis of rotation, a hub, a first plate, a second plate, and a rotor. The first plate is fixed to the hub at a first radially inner diameter, the second plate is fixed to the first plate at a radially outer diameter and arranged for fixing directly to a crankshaft of the combustion engine at a second radially inner diameter, and the rotor is fixed to the hub at the first radially inner diameter. In an example embodiment, the first radially inner diameter is radially offset from the second radially inner diameter.

A hydrodynamic thrust bearing for a torque converter comprising: an axis of rotation; a first radial thrust surface; a second radial surface, opposite the first radial thrust surface, including at least two axially protruding anti-rotation pins for preventing relative motion with one of either a stator assembly or an impeller once assembled; an inner circumferential surface defining an opening concentric with the axis of rotation; an outer circumferential surface; and, an axial retention means for attaching to the one of either a stator assembly or an impeller and including at least two resilient tabs, each tab comprising: a deflectable portion; a lockable portion; and, an axial portion having a first width and connecting the deflectable portion and the lockable portion. A torque converter having a hydrodynamic thrust bearing as described is also provided.

An impeller for a torque converter is provided. The impeller includes an impeller shell including an inner circumference, an outer circumference and a radial extension extending radially outward from the inner circumference. The radial extension includes an axially extending groove formed therein. The impeller also includes an impeller hub welded to the impeller shell by a weld. The weld is radially inside of the axially extending groove. A method of forming an impeller for a torque converter is also provided.

A drive assembly for a torque converter is provided. The drive assembly includes a turbine; a damper assembly fixed to a first side of the turbine by connectors; and a hydrodynamic bearing fixed to a second side of the turbine opposite the first side. The hydrodynamic bearing includes at least one recess formed therein receiving ends of the connectors. A method of forming a drive assembly is also provided. The method includes fixing a damper assembly cover plate to a first side of a turbine via connectors; and fixing a hydrodynamic bearing to a second side of the turbine opposite the first side. The hydrodynamic bearing including at least one recess formed therein receiving an ends the connectors. A torque converter is also provided.

A multi-use drive plate for a torque converter that includes an annular shaped inner portion defining a openings for connection to a front cover of a torque converter and an outer portion with a plurality of openings for receiving fasteners for connection to a motive force, such as an engine. A plurality of test tabs disposed axially from the annular shaped inner portion and extending radially outward each define a receiver opening with ramp surfaces on the annular shaped inner portion that extend between each one of the plurality of test tabs. Each of the ends of the ramping surfaces terminate at the receiver opening displaced from a middle portion of the ramp surface.
