A method, device, and system for evaluating a vessel of a patient, and in particular the hemodynamic impact of a stenosis within the vessel of a patient. Proximal and distal pressure measurements are made using first and second instrument while the first instrument is moved longitudinally through the vessel from a first position to a second position and the second instrument remains in a fixed longitudinal position within the vessel. A series of pressure ratio values are calculated, and a pressure ratio curve is generated. One or more stepped change in the pressure ratio curve are then identified and/or located using an Automatic Step Detection (ASD) process and/or algorithm. The ASD includes identifying a general position of a starting point of the stepped change by identifying a change in the pressure ratio values within a first window along the pressure ratio curve that is at or above a first threshold change value, and identifying an optimized position of the starting point by identifying a change in the pressure ratio values within a second window along the pressure ratio curve that is at or above a second threshold change value, wherein the second window is smaller than the first window, and the second threshold change value is smaller than the first threshold change value.

Apparatus and associated methods relate to transmitting an independent data stream from a beamforming base station to a User Equipment receiver in a beam directed based on the User Equipment transmitter signal Angle of Arrival estimated as a function of separately demodulated and jointly decoded User Equipment transmitter signals received by at least two spatially separated base station antennas, and scheduling transmission to and from the User Equipment as a function of the Angle of Arrival. In an illustrative example, the beamforming base station may be an LTE base station. The User Equipment may be, for example, a user's smartphone accessing the Internet. The independent data stream may be transmitted to the smartphone in a beam directed to the location of the smartphone. Various examples may advantageously provide higher bandwidth, for example a concentrated beam directed to User Equipment may provide an independent data stream with the full radio bandwidth.

A computerized system and method is used to collect and record data regarding transmission failures, to analyze the transmission failure data to identify root causes of failures, and to communicate failure source information so countermeasures may be implemented to prevent future failures. Automobile dealers provide transmission failure data, as well as transmissions they are unable to repair, to a manufacturer's repair facility. Transmissions with common problems or faults are identified and selected for addition to a repair facility production schedule. Parts for repairing the transmissions are ordered based on the production schedule. Transmissions are then analyzed in detail and repaired according to the production schedule. As each transmission is examined, data is collected and recorded so that a root cause may be determined and communicated as needed to the manufacturer's production facilities, suppliers, etc. Countermeasures are then implemented to prevent the failures attributable to the root cause.

System and method for analyzing and communicating transmission assembly failure information

A patch antenna for operation within a high temperature environment. The patent antenna typically includes an antenna radiating element, a housing and a microwave transmission medium, such as a high temperature microwave cable. The antenna radiating element typically comprises a metallization (or solid metal) element in contact with a dielectric element. The antenna radiating element can include a dielectric window comprising a flame spray coating or a solid dielectric material placed in front of the radiating element. The antenna element is typically inserted into a housing that mechanically captures the antenna and provides a ground plane for the antenna. Orifices or passages can be added to the housing to improve high temperature performance and may direct cooling air for cooling the antenna. The high temperature microwave cable is typically inserted into the housing and attached to the antenna radiator to support the communication of electromagnetic signals between the radiator element and a receiver or transmitter device.

A method for detecting a failure in an electronic device having an electric circuit. The method includes the steps of coating the electric circuit with a liquid crystal having a transition temperature between nematic and isotropic phases. A voltage is applied across the electric circuit so that the temperature of the liquid crystal at the failure approximates the transition temperature of the liquid crystal. The voltage applied is cycled across the electric circuit between a first nonzero voltage which is greater than the transition temperature and a second nonzero voltage which is less than the transition temperature. The cycling of the voltage reduces transient optical effects in the liquid crystal which have an appearance similar to the isotropic phase of the liquid crystal. A tester and liquid crystal for use in the method are provided.

The fixture comprises a base having a ridge formed in the lower surface thereof for supporting the base on a grinding disc for cross-sectioning of the composite structure. The mounting member extends outwardly from the base, and the composite structure is mounted on a front face of the mounting member. The front face of the mounting member has two contiguous but discontinuous surfaces on which the structure may be mounted.
