A locking apparatus for a rollup door, comprising a striker member, latch assembly including a latch, a release lever, a trigger, a cam and a solenoid. The latch assembly may also include a limit switch for detecting when the latch assembly is in an unlocked position. The locking apparatus can be electronically unlocked or it can be unlocked manually by a user by actuating the solenoid which causes the latch to release the locked striker member.

Locking apparatus for a rollup door or other movable object

An electronic locking apparatus for a rollup door, including a striker plate and a locking apparatus having a housing; a U-shaped trigger latch pivotably mounted to the housing having a notch and a spring; and a release catch pivotably mounted to the housing, a tab which can engage the notch and a spring. A solenoid is associated with a piston, which is connected to the release catch and can cause the release catch to pivot positions. Also included is a control assembly including a processor, user interface and memory storage device. A user can enter access information into the user interface, which causes the processor to actuate the solenoid, which moves the piston and causes the release catch to pivot. The release catch tab engages or disengages from the trigger latch tab to pivot and release or retain the striker plate.

Electronic lock for a rollup door

A door latch generally comprising a latch cover and a latch slide. The latch cover comprises a upper angled section having a vertical portion and an angled portion extending therefrom, at least one first aperture defined in the vertical portion, at least one first slot defined in the angled portion, a horizontal portion having at least one second slot defined therein, and, at least one third slot defined therein substantially aligned with the first slot, a vertical middle section having a second aperture defined therein, and, a slide guide extending from one side, the slide guide having an upper spacer leg and, a lower spacer leg, an angled lower portion having a vertical edge, the vertical edge having at least one fourth aperture defined therein. The latch slide comprises a vertical section having a first end and a second end and an upper edge, a notch at the first end and, a tang extending from the second end, a horizontal section extending generally perpendicularly from at least a portion of the upper edge, the horizontal section having at least one fourth slot defined therein, an angled portion extending from one edge of the and, a pull tab extending from the extending angled portion such that the latch can slidingly engage the latch cover and reciprocatingly slide between a tang retracted position and a tang extended position.

Door latch assembly for roll-up doors

A live axle tension device (15) that is suitable for adjusting the setting of a spring (16) on a live axle door (10). The tension device comprises a spring (16) that connects to a drum wheel (14) and to a spring connecting plate (22). The spring connecting plate (22) is attached to the outside of an axle housing tube (24) that houses the axle (12). The axle housing tube (24) also has two tension plates (26) connected to it which sandwich a tension bracket (20). The tension bracket (20) is fixedly attached to a supporting structure (21) and the axle (12) is free to rotate inside the bracket. The axle housing tube (24) and the plates attached to it can rotate relative to the tension bracket (20). With the spring (16) connected to the drum wheel (14) at one end and connected to the spring connecting plate (22) at the other end, the insertion of a tension pin (32) through the tension plates (26) and the tension bracket (20) fixes the position of the two ends of the spring (16) relative to each other. With the tension pin (32) in place, the door (10) can be raised and lowered in order to determine if the tension in the spring (16) is correct. If the tension in the spring (16) needs to be adjusted, a pipe wrench or other tool is attached to the outside of the axle housing tube (24) and the tube (24) is turned slightly to release the force on the tension pin (32) so that it can be removed. With the tension pin (32) removed, the axle housing tube (24) can be rotated in either direction by the wrench to increase or decrease the tension of the spring (16). Once the desired amount of tension is achieved, the tension pin (32) is placed back through the tension plates (26) and the tension bracket (20). At this point the door (10) can be raised and lowered again to determine if the spring (16) is adjusted properly.
