A non-transitory processor-readable medium storing code representing instructions to be executed by a processor includes code to cause the processor to receive from a wireless access point (WAP) device frequency-domain data associated with signals received at the WAP device from a wireless device during a time period. The code includes code to determine multiple frequency-domain magnitudes associated with the frequency-domain data for the time period to define a spectral magnitude signature associated with the frequency-domain data. Each frequency-domain magnitude from the multiple frequency-domain magnitudes is uniquely associated with a frequency bin from multiple mutually-exclusive frequency bins associated with the frequency domain data. The code also includes code to identify a spectral response deviation associated with the spectral magnitude signature and send a location identifier associated with a location of the wireless device based on the spectral response deviation.

Multipath-aware wireless device location identifier systems, devices and methods

In some embodiments, a method includes calculating, at a wireless access point (WAP) from a set of WAPs within a network, an interference value for each channel from a set of channels of the WAP. The method includes calculating, based on the interference value for each channel, a total move weight of the WAP. The method includes receiving, at the WAP, a total move weight from each remaining WAP. The method includes selecting one WAP from the set of WAPs based on a random number, the total move weight of the WAP, the total move weights from the remaining WAPs, and a rank of the WAPs. The method further includes changing, if the WAP is selected, a designated channel of the WAP to one of the remaining channels; and sending a signal to modify an active channel of the WAP to correspond with the designated channel.

Methods and apparatus for channel selection within a wireless network

Multipath-aware transmission parameter adaption systems, devices and methods

A technique for controlling the amount of power consumed by access points (APs) of a wireless network involves implementing throttleable APs (TAPs). It would be desirable for the TAPs to be in a relatively low power mode during periods of low activity, and switch to a high power mode in response to increased wireless activity. To that end, a throttling engine can be implemented to throttle TAPs up in power in response to increases in wireless activity, and throttle TAPs down in power in response to decreases in wireless activity.

Throttling access points

A technique for determining a received signal strength from multiple messages filters noise from the received signal to provide an accurate signal strength value. Advantageously, the more accurate output signal strength value can be used to identify movement of a station as well as estimate locations and direction of movement.

A technique for associating clients with APs in an advantageous manner may involve local balancing of clients across APs. This may involve providing instructions to APs to disable client association. Alternatively, this technique may involve load balancing across controllers.

Load balancing

A technique for controlling the amount of power consumed by access points (APs) of a wireless network involves implementing power-saving APs (PSAPs). It would be desirable for the PSAPs to be in sleep mode during periods of low activity, and at full power during periods of high activity. To that end, a PSAP agitation (PSAPA) engine can be implemented to agitate PSAPs in response to increases in wireless activity, and put PSAPs to sleep in response to decreases in wireless activity.

Access point agitation

This specification describes a system and method that can offer, among other advantages, a technique for resource assignment that involves obtaining a group of resources, repeatedly selecting a resource from the group of resources until a resource that is available is selected, and associating a client or process with that resource. An example of a method according to the technique includes obtaining a group of VLANs for assignment to a client based on client identity, selecting a first choice from the group of VLANs, selecting a next choice from the group of VLANs if the first choice is unavailable, and connecting the client to the selected VLAN. The client identity may include, by way of example but not limitation, a MAC address, an SSID, or some other known or convenient way to identify the client. A system constructed according to the technique may include, by way of example but not limitation, memory, a resource group name decoder, a value calculator, an index calculator, and a selector. The memory may include, for example, a resource name buffer, an identity buffer, a result buffer, a resource count buffer, a resource name array, and a selected resource buffer.

Wireless VLAN system and method

An improved method and system for verifying the correctness of data entered from document images. Images are sorted according to their entered values, and are then presented to an adjudication operator, who verifies that the values shown in the images are correctly ordered. Images violating the sorted order are marked for correction. The marking of images is ergonomically advantageous in requiring only a simple pointing device used infrequently. Input can be by voice command. In one preferred embodiment, images are presented in rows and columns upon a video screen, and the operator uses controls similar to the 'forward' and 'back' buttons of a web browser to navigate through a set of images. In another preferred embodiment, images scroll automatically upwards through an attention zone, within which the operator verifies correct pairwise ordering. The adjudication method can operate with or without information used in previous systems, such as target values, recognition confidence, balancing information, and the like. Variants are described using such information to disambiguate mis-ordered pairs of images; to select images to participate in amount order adjudication; to determine when to accept a second-choice recognition result; and to bypass initial data entry altogether. The method provides for non-intrusive monitoring of its own performance and of the accuracy of the initial data entry module, by measuring results on items whose ordering has been intentionally manipulated.

Method of detecting data entry errors by sorting amounts and verifying

An apparatus and method useful in correcting character strings misread by a character recognition engine. The misread string is compared to character strings contained in a lexicon of valid character strings and the similarity between the strings measured. The valid strings can be ranked by degree of similarity should further selection be required to determine the appropriate value of the misread character string.
