A seamed, conformable belt including a substrate having first and second opposing substantially planar surfaces, a first end, and a second end, wherein the first end and the second end of the substrate form a first seam, and an elastomeric layer having a first end and a second end, wherein the elastomeric layer is adjacent and in contact with the first surface of the substrate and wherein the first end and the second end of the elastomeric layer form a second detachable, substantially planar seam.

Seamed, conformable belt and method of making

A silencer assembly that has an extended life, is recycleable and suitable for reducing screeching noises between a cleaning blade and an imaging member of an electrostatographic reproduction machine. The silencer assembly includes (i) a first C-shaped member having a wall defining a slot extending axially in the wall, and an interior cavity having a predetermined inside diameter in the free state, (ii) at least one partially compressed high density polymeric open cell foam plug inserted into the interior cavity, and (iii) a replaceable second C-shaped member inserted within the interior cavity for reducing plastic deformation of the first C-shaped member, thereby extending life of the silencer and making the silencer easily recyclable by replacing the second C-shaped member.

There is disclosed a method for reusing a fuser member containing an outer layer having an original fusing surface that is deficient including: removing a portion of the thickness of the outer layer including the original fusing surface to create on the remaining outer layer a new fusing surface.

Method to renew a spent fuser member

Multiple layer fuser belts having a woven fabric layer and a high conformability, low surface energy elastic layer. The fabric layer is formed from high modulus, high temperature fibers that are woven together at acute angles to the circumference of the belt fibers. The fabric layer forms a substrate with preferential stretching along the circumference of the fuser belt. The elastic layer is bonded to the fabric layer and is made from a highly conformable, low durometer material having a low surface tension. When the fuser belt is partially wrapped around a driven roller so as to form a nip with a pressure roller the fuser belt stretches in the direction of belt motion. As the fuser belt passes through the nip the fuser belt contracts, releasing surface tension and thus reduces sticking between the fuser belt and fused toner.

A hard, long wearing, thermally conductive fuser member comprising a base member and a surface layer wherein said surface layer includes a fluoroelastomer and an alumina filler having an average particle size of from about 0.5 to about 15 micrometers, said alumina being present in an amount to provide a thermal conductivity of at least about 0.24 watts/meter .degree.Kelvin in said surface layer.

An endless flexible seamed belt with a mechanically invisible seam and substantially equivalent in performance to a seamless belt is formed by joining two ends of material from which the belt is fabricated each end of which has a plurality of mutually mating elements in a puzzle cut pattern which are in interlocking relationship in at least one plane and which when joined mechanically enable the flexible belt to essentially function as an endless belt having a substantially uniform thickness.
