An energy control system (ECS) for controlling an energy storage system (ESS's) that includes energy storage devices(s) or an energy storage combination (ESDC's) including&#x2265;1 of the energy storage devices and &#x2265;1 of the energy storage combinations. A power conversion system is coupled to an output of the ESDC, and a transformer is coupled to an output of the power conversion system. The ECS includes an ECS server and an ESS adapter configured for providing an interface between ECS server and the ESS. The ECS server is configured for reading status data from the ESS and submitting schedules including selected charging and discharging times to the ESS, monitoring or displaying a variance between an expected performance of the ESS based on the schedules and an actual ESS performance, and responsive to the variance being determined to be above a predetermined threshold, sending an update of the schedules to the ESS.

Energy control for energy storage systems

A system includes a shared data center having at least one data storage unit and at least one processing unit. The shared data center is configured to service one, two, or more industrial automation systems. For each of the one, two, or more industrial automation systems, the shared data center is configured to receive process-related data associated from at least one local device in at least one local system, analyze the process-related data from the local device, and provide instructions to at least one client device associated with the local system.

A method includes receiving information associated with one or more first alarms in a first control system and generating a graphical user interface containing information associated with a second control system. The method also includes presenting, in the graphical user interface, at least a portion of the information associated with the one or more first alarms. The method further includes receiving, from a user via the graphical user interface, an invocation of an alarm management function. In addition, the method includes performing the invoked alarm management function using at least one of the one or more first alarms. The alarm management function could include acknowledging, shelving, and/or filtering the at least one of the one or more first alarms. The first control system may not support acknowledging, shelving, and filtering of alarms, while the second control system may support acknowledging, shelving, and filtering of alarms.

Unified status and alarm management for operations, monitoring, and maintenance of legacy and modern control systems from common user interface

A method includes creating, in a secure platform, multiple securely-partitioned system sandboxes under control of at least one user associated with an industrial process control and automation system. Different system sandboxes are associated with different third parties who are not owners or operators of the industrial process control and automation system. The method also includes receiving content from the third parties in the system sandboxes. The method further includes receiving from the at least one user a selective activation of at least some of the content in the system sandboxes in order to place the at least some of the content into use by the industrial process control and automation system. The content could include equipment configurations for equipment associated with the industrial process control and automation system, and the equipment configurations could include control strategies and visualizations for the equipment.

Secure approach for providing combined environment for owners/operators and multiple third parties to cooperatively engineer, operate, and maintain an industrial process control and automation system

A security appliance to perform a method that includes receiving a first set of data from a first device using a first secure protocol of a first network, the first secure protocol comprises a first level of security, and determining, by the security appliance, that the received first set of data is intended for a second device on a second network using a second secure protocol, the second secure protocol comprises a second level of security different from the first. The method includes authenticating, by the security appliance, the received first set of data from the first network using the first secure protocol for transmission through the second network using the second secure protocol while collecting and concentrating additional data from the first network and transmitting, by the security appliance, the received first set of data to the second device via the second network comprising the second secure protocol.

The method also includes, for each of the plurality of sections, displaying an icon for the section and displaying visual indicators for the alarm status of the section and the operating status of the section.

A method of configuring an automation control system using point configuration software. At least an extract from a control program file having program elements and program element attributes for executing in an automatic controller of the automation control system is translated into a common representation including common program element types and common attributes. Mapping template files are applied including mapping rules and mapping parameters defining how the program elements and program element attributes are mapped into at least one automation system point with point attributes, and values for each point attribute. Common program element types and/or common attributes are matched with the mapping template files according to the mapping rules to generate at least one matching program element. The matching program element is converted into an automation system point configuration (system point configuration) which is stored in persistent storage of or accessible by the automation control system.

A method includes partitioning alarms into two or more alarm groups. The alarms are associated with operation of an industrial process system performing a process, and each alarm has multiple states. The method also includes generating a graphical display for presentation to a user. The graphical display identifies at least one of the alarm groups and multiple alarm indicators. Each alarm indicator indicates a state transition of an associated alarm between two of the alarm's states. The alarm indicators are arranged in the graphical display based on times of their respective state transitions.

An automated event viewing method for a process control network that includes a plurality of distributed control system (DCS) servers that receive process event data from one or more industrial processes, wherein each DCS server is connected to one or more operator consoles for monitoring the one or more industrial processes. The method includes receiving process event data of the industrial processes in real time from the plurality of DCS servers and transmitting in real time the process event data of the industrial processes to one or more operator consoles that are not connected to the DCS server from which the process event data originated.

Real time event viewing across distributed control system servers

A controller controls one or more process elements in a process control system. The controller also generates and buffers multiple events associated with operation of the controller. Each event is associated with a unique identifier, such as a numerical identifier. A supervisory device receives at least some of the events from the controller. The supervisory device determines if any of the events have not been received from the controller based on the unique identifiers. The supervisory device also initiates an event recovery if at least one of the events has not been received from the controller. During the event recovery, the controller recovers at least one event, such as any event having a numerical identifier greater than a numerical identifier identified by the supervisory device. The controller communicates the at least one recovered event to the supervisory device during the event recovery.
