Techniques for generating automated tags for a video file are described. The method includes receiving one or more manually generated tags associated with a video file, based at least in part on the one or more manually entered tags, determining a preliminary category for the video file, and based on the preliminary category, generating a targeted transcript of the video file, wherein the targeted transcript includes a plurality of words. The method further includes generating an ontology of the plurality of words based on the targeted transcript, ranking the plurality of words in the ontology based on a plurality of scoring factors, and based on the ranking of the plurality of words, generating one or more automated tags associated with the video file.

Various embodiments of the present invention include concept-service components of content-search-service systems which employ ontologies and vocabularies prepared for particular categories of content at particular times in order to score transcripts prepared from content items to enable a search-service component of a content-search-service system to assign estimates of the relatedness of portions of a content item to search criteria in order to render search results to clients of the content-search-service system. The concept-service component processes a search request to generate lists of related terms, and then employs the lists of related terms to process transcripts in order to score transcripts based on information contained in the ontologies.

A digital ink annotation process and system for processing digital documents and digital ink annotations therein. An annotation's position is maintained within a document such that the original intent and meaning of the annotation is preserved. This is true even if the document is edited, resized, displayed on a different device or otherwise modified. The process includes automatic and manual grouping of digital ink strokes within a document to define digital ink annotations, classifying the annotations according to annotation type, and anchoring the annotations to appropriate regions or positions in a document. The process further includes reflowing the annotations in a new document layout such that the annotations conform and adapt to the new layout while preserving the original intents and meanings of the annotations. The system includes a classification module, an anchoring module, a reflow module and a clean-up module to implement the digital ink annotation process.

A system and methods for facilitating adaptive grid-based document layout. More particularly, the adaptive grid-based document layout system and methods feature a new approach to adaptive grid-based document layout that utilizes a set of adaptive templates that are configurable in a range of different pages sizes and viewing conditions. The templates include various element types and constraint-based relationships that define the layout of elements with reference to viewing conditions under which the document content will be displayed and that define other content properties. Through a layout engine and paginator, the adaptive grid-based document layout system and methods determines a desirable sequence of templates to use for adapting document content. Additionally, the adaptive grid-based document layout system and methods provides a template authoring tool and user interface for interactively drawing and arranging layout elements within an adaptive template.

The subject invention relates to facilitating text detection. The invention employs a boosted classifier and a transductive classifier to provide accurate and efficient text detection systems and/or methods. The boosted classifier is trained through features generated from a set of training connected components and labels. The boosted classifier utilizes the features to classify the training connected components, wherein inferred labels are conveyed to a transductive classifier, which generates additional properties. The initial set of features and the properties are utilized to train the transductive classifier. Upon training, the system and/or methods can be utilized to detect text in data under text detection, wherein unlabeled data is received, and connected components are extracted therefrom and utilized to generate corresponding feature vectors, which are employed to classify the connected components using the initial boosted classifier. Inferred labels are utilized to generate properties, which are utilized along with the initial feature vectors to classify each connected component using the transductive classifier.
