Policy-based client-server systems and methods for attestation in managing and securing mobile computing devices. Attestation provides the means to make efficient, secure, and reproducible use of knowledge possessed by trusted expert parties and authorities within the expression and enforcement of policies for controlling use of, and access to, onboard software and hardware, network capabilities, and remote assets and services. Aspects of secure attestation of applications that use shared and dynamically loaded libraries are presented, as well as potential business models for attestation used in such a policy-based system. The system of the present invention resolves attestation record conflicts using digital certificates and digital signatures.

Detail-in-context techniques are described. In an implementation, an original image is distorted to produce a distorted region for a selected object at a first position in an original image displayed on a display screen. The distorted region magnifies at least a portion of the object. A signal is received to drag the object and the distorted region from the first position to a second position. A signal is received to drop the object at the second position. The distorted region is removed from the original image after the object is dropped at the second position.

A graphical user interface (GUI) is provided for manipulating a presentation of a region of interest within visual information displayed on a display screen of a computer display system. Detail-in-context lenses for interacting with objects in digital image presentations

A method for cropping a computer generated original image on a display, comprising the steps of: adjusting a user-selected movable boundary on the original image to define a cropped image within the boundary, the boundary defined by two or more points on the original image; and, distorting the original image in regions surrounding the points, whereby the boundary is accurately positioned for cropping. And, a method for measuring within a computer generated original image on a display, comprising the steps of: adjusting a user-selected movable line segment on the original image to define points on the original image for measuring between; and, distorting the original image in regions surrounding the points, whereby the points are accurately positioned for measuring.

Using detail-in-context lenses for accurate digital image cropping and measurement

A method for positioning a selected object in a computer generated original image on a display, comprising the steps of: distorting the original image to produce a distorted region for the object; dragging the object and the distorted region to a desired position; and, dropping the object at the desired position, whereby the object is accurately positioned. The steps of dragging and dropping are preferably performed by moving a cursor on the display with a pointing device such as a mouse.
