A deicing composition is provided. The composition includes a potassium or sodium salt of a carboxylic acid and a lithium salt of a carboxylic acid or lithium nitrate, wherein the molar ratio of lithium to potassium or lithium to sodium is from 10 percent to 80 percent.

Deicing composition

Lithium glass capable of minimizing the effects of alkali silica reaction in concrete. The lithium glass includes a glass forming oxide; lithium oxide; and optionally a glass network modifying oxide. The lithium glass can be also essentially free of sodium or potassium ions.

Cements including lithium glass compositions

Processes for making cement which when used to make concrete can stabilize the concrete against alkali-silica reactivity (ASR) from alkali containing components. The process includes adding lithium containing materials in the front of a cement kiln along with the cement starting materials in an amount sufficient to minimize ASR.

Cement and concrete compositions for controlling alkali-silica reaction
