A head unit for a surface-treatment apparatus is provided and includes a housing that includes a fluid inlet, a dispensation unit, and at least one baffle. The fluid inlet receives fluid from a fluid reservoir. The dispensation unit defines a dispensation chamber and an input port in fluid communication with each of the dispensation chamber and the fluid inlet. The at least one baffle is configured to direct the flow of fluid through the dispensation unit and out of the elongated dispensation outlet.

Surface-treatment apparatus and head unit

A filter bag includes a bag structure of filter material. A panel is adhered to the bag structure and has a fill opening. A securing tab is attached by a hinge to the panel. The panel is configured to have a mounted position in which a fill tube projects through the fill opening into the bag structure to exhaust air into the bag structure. The panel can be secured in the mounted position by the attachment tab being manually pivoted about the hinge into attachment with an attachment structure coupled to the fill tube.

A floor-scrubbing machine is provided having a main body and a cleaning fluid delivery system. At least one rotatable brush having a brush body and bristles extending from the brush body is included. The brush is carried by the main body whereby the bristles of the brush engage the floor being scrubbed. A fluid distributor is provided to distribute cleaning fluid supplied to the fluid distributor to the brush. The brush defines a recess having a sidewall and at least one opening formed in the sidewall for distributing the cleaning solution radially outward.

A portable compact extractor having permanent solution and recovery tanks integrally formed in a single main tank portion, with a removable power head attached to the top of the main tank. A fill port passes through the powerhead into the cleaning solution tank and a pour spout is formed in the recovery tank. With this construction, the cleaning solution tank may be filled with water and, if desired, detergent, by pouring the water and detergent into the fill port in the power head, and the recovery tank may be emptied as desired simply by tipping the unit and pouring the contents of the recovery tank out the pour spout and down the drain, without ever having to remove any tanks, bottles or the power head from the unit, or disconnect and reconnect any tubes. A carry handle is located on the powerhead to facilitate transportation of the unit, removal of the power head from the main tank for cleaning the tanks when desired, and to facilitate pouring the contents of the recovery tank out of the pour spout. A blower located in the powerhead provides suction in the recovery tank for suctioning liquid from a surface into the recovery tank and for driving a pneumatically driven pump for providing a source of pressurized cleaning solution for application to a surface to be cleaned.

An improved carpet extractor is provided having powered brushes for scrubbing cleaning solution on a floor surface and a floor nozzle for extracting soiled cleaning solution from the floor surface in a floor cleaning mode. The extractor may be converted from the floor cleaning mode to an above the floor cleaning mode for cleaning upholstery, stairs, spots on carpet, or the like, with an attached hand held wand having a cleaning solution applicator and an upholstery and stair cleaning nozzle. A pair of motors are provided, one for driving the floor scrubbing brushes when in the floor cleaning mode and one for driving a cleaning solution supply pump and providing pressurized cleaning solution to the wand in the above floor cleaning mode. An automatic conversion mechanism is provided for automatically energizing and de-energizing the motors depending upon the operative position of the handle portion of the extractor.

A hard bag cleaner door is disclosed having air directing rib vanes integral with its inner surface. These vanes take the form of, alternately, angled J-shaped ribs and short straight interleaved ribs. All the ribs are stepped so that the flow passage for air moving along the interior side of the bag door diverges as more bag air is introduced to it so that it directs efficiently air flow to a lower disposed motor-fan section of an adjoining hard bag portion. In a second embodiment, an exhaust opening is formed in the hard bag cleaner door below the air directing rib vanes and is covered by a final filter and final filter door. The air moving along the interior side of the bag door is directed out the exhaust opening, through the final filter which filters small dust particles which may be present in the exhaust air and out vent openings formed in the final filter door.

A hard bag cleaner door is disclosed having air directing rib vanes integral with its inner surface. A vacuum cleaner includes an internal electrical supply cord and a control cable. These two elements are secured to a suction duct for mounting and guidance. The control cable also extends arcuately, smoothly around a lower motor-fan housing section to limit wear and kinking.

A nozzle is disclosed having a brush adjustably mounted in it so as to be movable inwardly and outwardly of a slotted bottom plate forming member. This bottom plate forming member includes resilient, deformable tabs which pass the brush inwardly into the nozzle during forceable assembly but limit outward movement of the brush when it is moved outwardly within the nozzle.

A scent dispensing arrangement is disclosed for use in an upright vacuum cleaner having a flexible air pervious bag extending along a pivoting handle thereof and an air flow generating means which produces an air flow which is exhausted to atmosphere via the bag. A cap member is connected to a top end portion of the flexible bag and interconnected with the pivoting handle for supporting the bag at its uppermost extension along the handle. A scent dispenser is provided which includes a drawer slidably mounted in the cap member for retaining the scented material. The drawer is provided with apertures for providing a path for air flow to atmosphere with sliding movement thereof either opening or closing the path to control dispensing of the scented material.
