A system for simultaneously associating a wireless USB device with multiple wireless USB hosts includes a wireless USB device, a plurality of wireless USB hosts, and means for simultaneously interconnecting the wireless USB device with more than one of the wireless USB hosts. A method for connecting a wireless USB (WUSB) device to multiple WUSB hosts includes the steps of connecting the wireless USB device to a first WUSB host and putting the connection with the first WUSB host into a pseudo sleep mode, scanning a radio frequency spectrum for a new WUSB host that is available for connection to the device, connecting the device to the new WUSB host, and putting the connection with the new WUSB host into a pseudo sleep mode.

System and method for connecting a WUSB device to multiple WUSB hosts

A method and apparatus for identifying and selecting a desired wireless device from multiple available wireless devices is provided. In one embodiment, the desired wireless device receives a signal from a searching wireless device. An indicator on the desired wireless device is activated in a unique identification pattern that may be recognized by the user of the searching wireless device. In this manner the user may verify that the desired wireless device is receiving the signal from the searching wireless device.

Apparatus and method for selecting wireless devices

A scanner is housed in a similar body to that of a removable printer ink jet cartridge and can be inserted in place thereof. The scanner includes a light source mounted on the scanner housing which is able to emit light through an aperture in the housing, a CCD array mounted on the housing to receive light reflected off the image, a lens positioned between the image and the CCD for focusing the reflected light on the CCD, scanner electronics coupled to the CCD array for converting the analog output of the CCD to image data, and means for selecting between optically scanning media or printing thereupon. The scanner electronics transmits the image data to a printer CPU via a flexible interconnect which is normally used to select the individual nozzles of the removable printer cartridge. The printer CPU can forward the image data to a host personal computer for permanent storage in a first mode or store the image data in printer memory for contemporaneous reproduction in a second copy mode.

Method and apparatus for converting an ink-jet printer into a scanner

The invented circuit includes an I/O driver capable of supplying current to an I/O connector, a current detection circuit that may include a current limit resistor and a differential amplifier, a comparator to compare the level of current to a predetermined level and to produce an output signal based thereon, and a translator to convert the output signal from the comparator into a transistor-transistor logic signal. The device that includes the invented circuit then interprets the logic signal as identifying either a serial I/O system or a LAN I/O system.
