A fluorescent lampholder with a top portion for supporting a fluorescent lamp and a base portion with a wire opening located on the bottom surface of the base that receives wires without exposing the wires to the exterior surface of a fixture. The lampholder is capable of supporting various types and/or sizes of fluorescent lamps such as 'tall', 'medium' and &#x201c;small&#x201d; T-8 fluorescent lamps as well as other types and/or sizes of fluorescent lamps.

A four function electrical rocker switch has two single pole, single throw on/off sections having their movable contact arms coupled to a single electrical line and their screw terminal fixed contacts connected to individual circuits. The two switch sections are independently operated. A third rocker switch is a single pole, double throw switch with a center-off position. The third switch can be operated to either of two positions to operate either one of two independent circuits or can be left in the center-off position not engaging either circuit. A five function electrical rocker switch can be made up of one section having a single pole, single throw on/off switch and two sections with single pole, double throw switches which each have a center-off position.

Four function electrical rocker switch

A lamp adapter for receiving a lamp having a conductive threaded portion and an extension with a conductive contact electrically insulated from the conductive threaded portion. The lamp adapter has a body with a top portion and a bottom portion. The top portion has a socket with a threaded sleeve adapted to receive the threaded portion of the lamp, a first lead electrically connected to the threaded sleeve, a cavity located with respect to the threaded sleeve so as to receive the extension of the lamp when the lamp is threaded into the threaded sleeve, a metal contact arm located within the cavity so as to make electrical contact with the conductive contact of the lamp when the lamp is threaded into the threaded sleeve, and a second lead electrically connected to the metal contact arm. The bottom portion has a threaded portion suitable for threading into a mating lamp socket, the threaded portion being electrically insulated from the top portion. The lamp adapter includes a recess located within the cavity and a coil spring disposed with a lower portion within the recess and an upper portion above the recess and within the cavity, wherein the metal contact arm is located in cooperation with the coil spring so as to be biased thereon and make contact with the conductive contact of the lamp when the lamp is threaded into the threaded sleeve. The metal contact arm is located with the cavity so as not to make contact with a conductive electrical contact on a lamp not having an extension.

Adapter for mogul base open fixture lamps

The invention here disclosed is a back wire ground clamp for a wiring device such as a switch or receptacle having a ground strap which supports an outwardly projecting ground lug having a front edge and adapted to receive a ground connection. The ground lug is coupled to a clamp plate by means of a screw which passes through a clearance opening in the clamp plate and is threaded into a receiving opening in the ground lug. The clamp plate supports a blocking tab which extends downward below the front edge of the ground lug and extends side ways for a distance which is less than the length of the front edge of the ground lug. The blocking tab prevents the clamp plate from rotating relative to the ground lug as the screw is tightened and defines an opening between the clamp plate and the ground lug along the front edge of the ground lug into which a single ground wire can be inserted.

A modular toggle mechanism assembly has a housing assembly, a toggle handle pivotally mounted in the housing assembly and movable between a first position and a second position, biasing means for selectively biasing the toggle handle in the first position or the second position, and an actuator arm connected to the toggle handle and capable of selectively actuating an external switching device as a function of the position of the toggle handle. The modular toggle assembly also includes an external switching device in selective association with the toggle handle. The housing assembly includes an upper housing and a lower housing configured to be secured together, wherein a portion of the toggle handle extends from an opening in the upper housing for user operation of the handle. The biasing means is a toggle spring positioned in the lower housing, and the assembly further includes a toggle arm extending from the toggle handle which contacts at least a portion of the toggle spring when the toggle handle is moved between the first and second positions. The toggle spring is a flat spring member located in a channel and supported on substantially distal ends by a pair of support arms. The toggle arm makes contact with substantially the middle of the spring member through a predetermined arc defined by the rotational movement of the toggle arm.

An adapter for lamps and other electrical devices to be installed in standard lampsockets which prevents unauthorized removal of such lamps or other electrical devices. A screwshell means is placed upon a body member such that relative rotation between them is possible. A tool or key placed in aligned slots or keyways prevents relative rotation so that the adapter can be installed or removed from a lampsocket. The tool or key is then removed permitting relative rotation again, whereby the lamp or other electrical device cannot be removed from the lampsocket. Use of the tool or key fixes the two components with respect to one another and the adapter can be removed.

Anti-theft lamp adapter

Each free end of a severed single conductor is bared and attached to a different terminal member by means of a terminal screw. The terminal members are each coupled to a contact of a rocker type switch. When in a first position a bridging element contacts both contacts of the switch and closes the circuit through the severed conductor. The rocker when placed in a second position permits the bridging element to open the circuit through the severed conductor.

In-line switch assembly

An electrical rocker type wall switch capable of single, duplex and triplex configurations incorporates one or more slightly concave manually depressible rockers. These rockers have a relatively short range of motion from their respective on to off positions. The edges of the rocker lie substantially flush with the switch cover when in either of their on or off positions. Switching is actuated by an actuating arm attached to the rocker moving a contact on the end of a movable brush arm in and out of electrical contact with a fixed contact on the end of a contact arm attached to a fixed terminal. One or more brush arms extend from a fixed brush backplate and are formed so as to be resilient. Switch toggling is achieved by using a toggle spring, held in place on the end of a toggle arm, which is compressed during the first half of travel of the rocker from its resting position and expands as the rocker crosses its midway point toward the second half of travel to its resting position on the other side of the switch. The toggle spring sits centrally over a spring pivot which has two spring stops on either side of it to support the toggle spring at the on and off position of the rocker.
