A tether device includes a magnetic base; a pole having a first end attached to the magnetic base; and a connector or clip attached at a second end of the pole, for removably connecting the tethering device to a user. Also, a method for tethering a user to a hull of a vessel including the steps of providing a tether device having a magnetic base, a pole having a first end attached to the magnetic base, and a connector or clip attached at a second end of the pole; connecting the connector or clip to the user; and engaging the magnetic base with the hull of the vessel.

A method for adapting the pointing of a radar system in response to distortion of a deckhouse support structure supporting plural antenna arrays of the radar system is provided. The method comprises the steps of making repeated measurements between at least one laser tracker located within the support structure and laser targets mounted within the support structure, and comparing the current measurements with previous measurements to determine physical bias introduced into the structure.

Dynamic relative internal alignment calibration

A device for removing metallic and other contaminant particles accumulated on footwear, comprises in one embodiment, a housing and a grid of cleaning rods supported by the housing. The grid of cleaning rods typically includes rotating rods and non-rotating rods which vibrate. Some of the rotating rods are provided with brushing elements and some of the rotating rods are provided with magnetic elements or are magnetic. The rotating rods with the magnetic elements or which are magnetic, remove the metallic contaminant particles from the footwear.

Tether device and related methods

A submersible apparatus is configured to eject air and/or water in desired predetermined patterns to simulate particular types of ordnance to facilitate safe and effective splash testing of ship radar systems. The apparatus includes a frame, one or more adjustable buoyancy bodies, a source of fluid such as an air compressor or a water pump, and a plurality of nozzles through which the fluid is ejected to create the desired splash. Fluid can be supplied to the buoyancy bodies to adjust the level of the apparatus in the water as necessary to simulate a particular type of ordnance. Additionally, the nozzles can be individually adjustable to facilitate ordnance simulation. A control system is provided to enable remote and/or preprogrammed control of the apparatus. A wireless or hard wired link can be provided to allow a remote user to control the apparatus in real time.

Subsurface splash generator

An easy to use epoxy-mount base plate assembly has components of a two-part epoxy adhesive pre-dispensed on the assembly's base plate in a plurality of alternating segments and prepackaged with a protective adhesive cover that keeps each epoxy component segment separated from one another until ready for use. To attach the base plate of the assembly to a surface, the adhesive cover is removed exposing the epoxy segments. The base plate is then pressed against a mounting surface and twisted thus mixing the epoxy components and initiating a curing process for the epoxy.

A rail transport system includes a rail assembly having at least two rail modules; at least one angled tongue element disposed at an end of the at least two rail modules; at least one angled groove element disposed at an end of the other one of the at least two rail modules, the at least one angled groove element for receiving the at least one angled tongue element when the at least two rail modules are assembled together; and at least one transport device for running along the rail assembly and transporting articles from one location to another. The rail transport system may further include first and second chain-wrench assemblies for securing the at least two rail modules to one another.

A method of aligning a fixture for holding an alignment telescope with an antenna array foundation. In one embodiment, the method includes mounting a fixture for holding an alignment telescope proximate to a first location on an edge of an antenna array foundation, projecting a laser beam outwards from the fixture towards a second location on the edge of the antenna array foundation, and aligning the fixture with the edge at the second location using the laser beam. The fixture may be aligned with the edge of the foundation by adjusting the position of the fixture in relation to the foundation so that the laser beam strikes the foundation edge at the second location, thereby producing a visible laser spot on the edge. The procedure may be repeated to align a plurality of spaced-apart foundation edge locations with the fixture.

Fixture alignment method for antenna array foundations

A system is provided for rigidly attaching a supply ship to a receiving ship to facilitate efficient transport of materials there-between even when the vessels are subject to heavy seas and weather. A telescoping truss assembly is provided on the first ship, and has a distal end configured to mate with a receptacle assembly on the second ship. Cables are disposed within the truss and are used to draw the truss and receptacle assemblies into engagement with each other. Once the assemblies are engaged, a hydraulic system is used to draw the two ships together, rigidifying the truss assembly and fixing the two ships in a 'catamaran' arrangement. Subsequent transfers of materials between the ships can be carried out without the need to compensate for the relative dynamic vertical and horizontal displacements between the ships due to wind and waves.
