A computer-implemented method includes generating code for displaying a two-dimensional media programming schedule grid, receiving a command to compress the grid at a first location along a first dimension, and generating code for displaying the grid with visible graphical fold marks defining a fold area near the first location along the first dimension.

Hiding portions of display content

Techniques are described herein for efficient movement of data from a source memory to a destination memory. In an embodiment, in response to a particular memory location being pushed into a first register within a first register space, the first set of electronic circuits accesses a descriptor stored at the particular memory location. The descriptor indicates a width of a column of tabular data, a number of rows of tabular data, and one or more tabular data manipulation operations to perform on the column of tabular data. The descriptor also indicates a source memory location for accessing the tabular data and a destination memory location for storing data manipulation result from performing the one or more data manipulation operations on the tabular data. Based on the descriptor, the first set of electronic circuits determines control information indicating that the one or more data manipulation operations are to be performed on the tabular data and transmits the control information, using a hardware data channel, to a second set of electronic circuits to perform the one or more operations. Based on the control information, the second set of electronic circuits retrieve the tabular data from source memory location and apply the one or more data manipulation operations to generate the data manipulation result. The second set of electronic circuits cause the data manipulation result to be stored at the destination memory location. Among the data manipulation operations that can be described are a bit vector based gather operation. The second set of electronic circuits determine a row count, which is generated efficiently by the second set of electronic circuits and is used to perform a gather operation and other types of data manipulation operations more efficiently.

A television viewer interface system provides a viewer interface that allows the viewer to access different functions of a system. A highlight bar is responsive to the user's commands and is used to indicate the current menu item that can be selected by the user. Information is presented in a successive disclosure format where the user navigates through menus by moving the highlight bar to the right to obtain more information or to the left to see less information and return to the previous location. The background colors of each set of menus remains consistent throughout the user's experience such that the user intuitively knows what menu area he is in through the color cues. The invention provides indicators that tell the user that more information is available in a particular direction for a menu item.

A multimedia mobile personalization system provides a remote control that detects a user's electronic tag, e.g. an RFID tag. The remote control notifies a multimedia device of the user's identity. The multimedia devices tailors it operations to the user's preferences stored locally. Multimedia content such as broadcast or recorded television programs, music play lists, and the like could be sorted, displayed, or restricted, depending on the user identifier.

Systems and methods for displaying program guide information are disclosed. In some implementations a method includes, at a computing device having one or more processors and memory storing one or more programs for execution by the one or more processors, formatting, for display, program guide data on a grid. The grid includes (i) a first axis representing units of time and (ii) a second axis representing multimedia channels. The program guide data comprises information representing a set of multimedia events. Responsive to a user-supplied selection of a multimedia event in the set of multimedia events a panel is overlaid on a portion of the grid. System and methods for formatting a virtual channel are provides in which, responsive to a user selection of a plurality of time-bounded multimedia events, there is formatted for display the plurality of time-bounded multimedia events in a first virtual channel. The user is enabled to fill a first time slot in the first virtual channel with overlapping time-bounded multimedia events from the plurality of time-bounded multimedia events. A representation of a numeric count of the overlapping time-bounded multimedia events is formatted for display in the first time slot.
