Hydrogen production process and apparatus using a combined stream of gas turbine exhaust from a gas turbine and combustion air from forced draft fan as combustion oxidant in a steam reforming furnace. A valve assembly for providing draft air is included to quickly provide additional combustion air to the reformer furnace when the gas turbine unexpectedly shuts down.

Hydrogen production system and process

A catalytic steam-hydrocarbon reforming process for producing a hydrogen-containing product and export steam where a first stream of make-up water is heated by flue gases from the reformer and a second stream of make-up water is heated by reformate from the reformer prior to being introduced into a deaerator.

Hydrogen production process with high export steam

Reformer and method for producing hydrogen and steam where steam is used for steam-assisted extraction of heavy hydrocarbons. Steam is injected into a hydrocarbon-containing reservoir. Hydrocarbons are extracted from the reservoir along with produced water. Hydrogen is produced in a catalytic steam hydrocarbon reformer. Combustion product gas from the reformer is used to generate wet steam in a once-through steam generator from produced water recycled from the reservoir. The wet steam is used for the steam-assisted extraction of heavy hydrocarbons. The reformer has a heat exchanger section including a first heat exchanger and a second heat exchanger downstream of the first heat exchanger. The second heat exchanger is suitable for processing the produced water by once-through steam generation and is suitable for mechanical cleaning. The reformer also has a first exhaust downstream of the second heat exchanger and a closeable second exhaust downstream of the first heat exchanger.

Integrated hydrogen production and hydrocarbon extraction

A method for generating hydrogen and/or syngas in a production facility where little or no export steam is produced. Most or all of the steam produced from the waste heat from the process is used in the steam-hydrocarbon reformer. Reformed gas is passed to a pressure swing adsorption system for Hpurification. In the method, COis removed from the pressure swing adsorber residual gas prior to recycling the residual gas to the reformer for use as feed and as fuel. Plant efficiencies using the method and prior art-type methods are compared.

Steam-hydrocarbon reforming method with limited steam export

A method for generating hydrogen and/or synthesis gas in a production facility where little or no export steam is produced. Most or all of the high pressure steam produced from the waste heat from the process is used in the steam-hydrocarbon reformer with little or no steam export. The method uses oxygen enhanced combustion which may involve oxygen lancing and/or oxygen-enrichment. Plant efficiencies using the method and prior art-type methods are compared.

A hydrogen production method that integrates a catalytic steam reformer and a gasifier. Hydrogen is generated in a catalytic steam reformer at a high production rate or design capacity. The catalytic steam reformer is then turned down to a fraction of design capacity while a gasifier produces the needed hydrogen. During the turned down state of the catalytic steam reformer, more of a hydrogen-containing stream formed from gasifier effluent is fed to the catalytic steam reformer as a feed thereby reducing the flow rate of feedstock required for the catalytic steam reformer in the turned down state. Optionally, hydrogen mixtures from the catalytic steam reformer and gasifier are fed to one or more adsorbers for hydrogen purification and adsorber effluent is fired as fuel in the steam reformer furnace to provide a majority of the heat needed for the reforming reaction.

Hydrogen production method

A method for controlling the operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) process which utilizes gas turbine-driven refrigeration compressors is disclosed. A feedforward control system compensates for the effects of changes in ambient air temperature on the plant operating efficiency by periodically predicting a new temperature and resetting the set points of key feedback controllers in anticipation of this new temperature, thereby optimizing the operation of the plant and minimizing the specific fuel consumption at a given LNG production rate.

Gas liquefaction process control system

An adiabatic pressure swing absorption process is disclosed for the removal of essentially all oxygen contained in an inert gas stream in minor amounts. The oxygen is absorbed and desorbed adiabatically from a dioxygen sorbent. Optionally, an inert purge gas can be utilized to improve the desorption of oxygen from the dioxygen sorbent. The process utilizes at least two switching beds of the dioxygen sorbent in which one bed is in an absorbing mode while the other bed is in a desorbing mode.

Adiabatic pressure swing absorption process for removing low

An adiabatic-isothermal swing absorption process is disclosed for the removal of essentially all oxygen contained in an inert gas stream. The oxygen is absorbed from an inert gas stream adiabatically on to a dioxygen absorbent and then desorbed from the absorbent isothermally by the use of external heat. The process method utilizes at least two switching beds of the dioxygen absorbent in which one bed is in an absorbing mode while the other bed is in a desorbing mode.
