The invention discloses a process for treating black liquor comprising pyrolyzing black liquor in a fluidized bed reactor to obtain solid particles and pyrolyzed black liquor gas, heating the solid mass, returning the heated solid mass to the fluidized bed reactor for use in the pyrolysis reaction; condensing the pyrolyzed black liquor gas to obtain a condensate and recover heat and a residual gas released during condensation for heating the solid mass to a predetermined temperature for that is required for the pyrolysis.

Process for treating black liquor

A method for making mononitrobenzene using a plug flow reactor train. Benzene, nitric acid and sulfuric acid are introduced into the reactor and produced mononitrobenzene is removed at an outlet end. All of the benzene and at least part of the sulfuric acid are introduced at the inlet end of the reactor. A first portion of the nitric acid is introduced by a first nitric acid feed into the inlet end and a second portion of the nitric acid is introduced at one or more additional feeds that are spaced between the inlet end and the outlet end. The method results in reduced formation of by-product dinitrobenzene, improving the reaction yield of mononitrobenzene while avoiding the need for a distillation step.

Method for reducing the formation of by-product dinitrobenzene in the production of mononitrobenzene

This invention relates to a novel fluidized bed membrane reactor for autothermal operations. More particularly, this invention pertains to a unique fluidized bed membrane reactor which includes internal catalyst solids circulation for conveying heat between a reforming zone and an oxidation zone. A method of producing hydrogen gas from a hydrocarbon gas and steam comprising forming a fluidized bed of a suitable particulate catalyst in a reactor, wherein the catalyst is disposed in the reactor in two reaction modes, the first being an endothermic dehydrogenation reaction mode and the second being an exothermic oxidation or partial oxidation reaction mode, introducing a mixture of steam and hydrocarbon gas into the bottom of the fluidized bed to fluidize the particulate catalyst and form the fluidized bed, reacting the steam and hydrocarbon gas within the first endothermic dehydrogenation reaction mode to produce hydrogen gas, separating said hydrogen gas from other gases in the first endothermic dehydrogenation reaction mode as molecular or atomic hydrogen through a perm-selective membrane that permits the transfer of hydrogen therethrough while preventing or minimizing the transmission therethrough of the other gases in the endothermic dehydrogenation reaction mode, introducing oxidant in the second exothermic oxidation or partial oxidation reaction mode, and mixing same with other gases in the second exothermic oxidation and partial oxidation mode, and directing resultant oxidized gases to the first endothermic dehydrogenation reaction mode.

Internally circulating fluidized bed membrane reactor system

An integrated process for treating alkaline wash water effluent from nitroaromatic manufacture, principally containing nitro-hydroxy-aromatic compounds is described. The integrated process concentrates the alkaline wash water to recover chemicals and water prior to treating the concentrate through supercritical water oxidation. The supercritical water oxidation step consists of treating the concentrate in the presence of an oxygen source at conditions, which are supercritical for water to cause a substantial portion of the organic component of the concentrate to oxidize. The product effluent includes a gaseous component and a clean water component, and in the event that insoluble ash is formed, an ash component. The new integrated process results in reduced chemical and water consumption compared to existing processes. In addition, the treated wash water effluent can be recycled to process or directly discharged.
