A robot in a location interacts with a user. The robot includes a camera, an image recognition processor, a microphone and a loudspeaker, a voice assistant, and a wireless transceiver. The robot moves around and creates a model of the location, and recognizes changes. It recognizes objects of interest, beings, and situations. The robot monitors the user and recognizes body language and gesture commands, as well as voice commands. The robot communicates with the user, the TV, and other devices. It may include environment sensors and health status sensors. It acts as a user companion by answering queries, executing commands, and issuing reminders. It may monitor to determine if the user is well. The robot may monitor objects of interest, their placement and their status. When necessary, it communicates with the user.

Autonomous robot

A braille reference card for a remote control is provided. The braille reference card includes a base that includes a plurality of regions. Each region of the plurality of regions includes at least one of a surface projection or at least one braille embossed character set of a plurality of braille embossed character sets. A position of the surface projection corresponds to a position of a button on the remote control. The at least one braille embossed character set is one of adjacent to the surface projection or on the surface projection. The at least one braille embossed character set indicates a functionality of the button that corresponds to the position of the surface projection. A surface area of the base is larger than a surface area of the button layout of the remote control. The at least one region corresponds to a multi-function button on the remote control.

A method of providing a remote-control interface on a smart device for an electronic device by operating an app, developed using machine learning (ML) comprising supervised learning, on the smart device to: use a camera in the smart device to capture an image of the electronic device, with minimal requirements on image quality; operate on the captured image to identify the electronic device in terms of make and model; select from a database of remote-control user interfaces a remote-control user interface corresponding to the identified make and model of the electronic device; and present the selected remote-control user interface on the smart device to a user. In some cases, the captured image is tagged with at least one of date, time, and global location information, allowing further identification in terms of at least one of version ID and region of sale.

Enabling a device with camera and display to control other devices (universal remote control app)

A graphical user interface (GUI) for an audio video display device (AVDD) such as a TV includes content panels which can be selected for searching for additional information related to the content underlying the content panels. A history of previous searches is maintained in memory 'stacked' notionally to the left or right of the current display so that a viewer can easily review previous search results using a simple scroll command.

The method further includes interacting with the user based on a second behavior pattern, wherein the second behavior pattern includes one or more of the predetermined behaviors and the modified behavior.

Adapting interactions with a television user

A multi-window user interface (UI) on a control device such as a tablet computer communicates commands to a display controller, which may be implemented by a game console. The controller controls presentation on a large screen display according to the commands. The control device may always present a multi-window UI which the control device can command to have mimicked on the display, with the UI also being configured to cause a single video to be presented whole screen on the display while the multi-window UI remains presented on the control device. The video feeds that populate the multi-window UI are of the same content but of lower resolution than those which are presented on the display. A movable window on the control device can be dragged and dropped to cause a corresponding magnifying focus on the display over the corresponding portion of video in focus on the control device.

Situation-aware robot

An audio and video reproduction apparatus that comprises a memory, a display screen, and circuitry. The memory stores a sequence of image frames of multi-media content and closed caption (CC) information associated with the multi-media content. The circuitry detects a first position of a first object in an image frame, of the sequence of image frames, to be displayed on the display screen. The circuitry further controls, based on a user-input, the display screen to display the image frame in a first display portion of the display screen and display a first portion of the CC information at a second position in a second display portion of the display screen. The first portion of the CC information is displayed at the second position in the second display portion, based on the detected first position of the first object in the image frame.

Audio-video reproduction for closed caption display control based on multi-media content

An audio-video (AV) reproduction device that comprises at least one audio capturing device, at least one speaker, a memory, and circuitry. The memory stores setup information associated with first-time device setup of the audio-video reproduction device. The first-time device setup is associated with a plurality of configuration settings of the AV reproduction device. The circuitry controls the at least one speaker to output a message in the setup information, and controls the at least one audio capturing device to receive a user input based on the message. The circuitry compares the user input with at least one condition associated with the message. The circuitry configures a configuration setting from the plurality of configuration settings based on the comparison. The circuitry controls at least a function of the AV reproduction device based on the configured configuration setting.

Disclosed are approaches for user interface control. In one embodiment, a method can include: indicating a highlight of a first object of a plurality of objects displayed on a display screen; accepting a signal deriving from a first gesture input of a user indicating a neutral position relative to the highlighted first object; accepting a signal deriving from a second gesture input of the user indicating a directional position at least a predetermined distance from the neutral position; and indicating, in response to the second gesture input, a movement of the highlight from the first object to a second object adjacent to the first object, and where the directional position of the second gesture input correlates to a position on the display screen of the second object relative to the first object.
