A novel, branched, saturated, primary fatty acid amide is disclosed. Application areas are as a slip and/or antiblocking agent or mold release agent. The branched, saturated, primary fatty acid has a formula R&#x2014;CO&#x2014;NHwhere R is a saturated, branched hydrocarbon chain having 11 to 23 carbon atoms, wherein at least 60% by weight of the R&#x2014;CO&#x2014;NHmolecules have monoalkyl branches and less than 25% by weight of the R&#x2014;CO&#x2014;NHmolecules have polyalkyl branches.

Use of a composition consisting essentially of a mixture of aliphatic esters as a slip agent in a polyester polymer, said composition comprising at least two esters selected from the group comprising: Myristyl myristate, Myristyl palmitate, palmityl myristate, palmityl palmitate, palmityl stearate, stearyl myristate, stearyl palmitate, stearyl stearate, stearyl arachidate and stearyl behenate.

Aliphatic ester compounds as slip agents in polyester polymers

A process for recovering 18-methyl eicosanoic acid (18-MEA) and/or alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) from woolwax acids or derivatives thereof comprises the steps of heating the woolwax acids or derivatives thereof to 100 to 230&deg; C. to form estolides and polymeric species; distilling to obtain a distillate (D1) and a residue (R1); and recovering 18-MEA from the distillate and/or recovering AHAs from the residue.
