A cleaning appliance includes a dirt separator for separating dirt from an airflow, and a main body, the dirt separator including a bin for collecting dirt separated from the airflow, and the main body including a runner portion extending alongside a side wall of the bin, wherein the bin is slidable along the runner portion between an operational position and an extended position, and a release catch releasably engages with a formation on the runner portion to prevent the bin from being separated from the cleaning appliance, and wherein the release catch is positioned on the side wall of the bin such that it is hidden by the runner portion of the main body unless the bin is in the extended position.

A cleaner head that includes an agitator in the form of a brush bar, the brush bar including a sealing material extending over the circumferential and axial extent of the brush bar, the sealing material including a tufted material, and a housing defining a chamber which at least partially surrounds the brush bar, a dirty air inlet in a lower part of the chamber and a front opening that exposes the brush bar at the front of the housing, the brush bar being supported for rotation with respect to the housing and arranged in the chamber, wherein a partition is arranged within the chamber between the brush bar and an outlet of the chamber, the partition extends transversely and divides the chamber into an agitating region and a settling chamber, and the partition includes a wall that extends tangentially to the brush bar and is inclined rearwardly.

Cleaner head for a vacuum cleaner

A brushbar including: a body having a channel extending in the longitudinal direction and a retaining feature provided along each side of the channel and spaced away from a bottom, wherein a depth of the channel decreases in the longitudinal direction of the channel; an agitator element that includes a flexible strip and an agitator, wherein the flexible strip is disposed in the channel and extends between each retaining feature and the bottom of the channel such that the retaining features retain the flexible strip in the channel and the agitator extends radially from the channel; and a shim disposed between the flexible strip and the bottom of the channel such that the flexible strip abuts each retaining feature, wherein a thickness profile of the shim decreases in the longitudinal direction by an amount corresponding to the decrease in the depth of the channel.

Brushbar, cleaner head and method of manufacture of a brushbar

A cleaner head for a vacuum cleaner including an agitator in the form of a brush bar, the brush bar including a plurality of radially extending bristles and a sealing material disposed between the bristles. The sealing material extends over substantially the entire circumferential and axial extent of the regions of the brush bar between the bristles. The cleaner head further includes a housing defining a chamber which at least partially surrounds the brush bar, a dirty air inlet in a lower part of the chamber and a front opening that exposes the brush bar at the front of the housing. The brush bar is supported for rotation with respect to the housing and arranged in the chamber such that the brush bar seals against the housing thereby restricting flow of air through the front opening.

A cleaner head for a cleaning appliance, comprising a main body, a first bearing assembly, a second bearing assembly and a brushbar. The first bearing assembly is secured to the main body, and comprises a first stationary part fixed with respect to the main body and a first rotary part arranged to rotate with respect to the first stationary part. The second bearing assembly is secured to the main body, and comprises a second stationary part fixed with respect to the main body and a second rotary part arranged to rotate with respect to the second stationary part. The brushbar is coupled for rotation with the first and second rotary parts such that the brushbar rotates with the first and second rotary parts, and is configured to slidably engage the first and second rotary parts such that it can be separated from the first and second rotary parts for cleaning.

Cleaner head

A cleaner head for a cleaning appliance, the cleaner head including a main body having an air inlet and an air outlet, an agitator supported for rotation with respect to the main body about a rotational axis, and a collector for collecting strands of hair. The collector is supported by the main body and arranged such that strands of hair drawn through the air inlet wrap around at least part of the collector. The collector is movable with respect to the main body between a hair collecting position in which the agitator is rotatable with respect to the collector and a hair removal position.

A floor tool for a vacuum cleaning appliance comprising a body including a suction nozzle, a neck coupled to the body so as to pivot relative to it about an axis 'A', wherein the neck includes a base portion that defines a rail formation located at least partially about its circumference and the body includes a runner formation that is engaged with a discrete part of the rail formation, the rail formation being slidable relative to the runner formation thereby coupling the base portion to the body but permitting the base portion to pivot relative to the body.

A floor tool for a vacuum cleaning appliance comprising a support member adapted to support a cleaning element and at least one suction nozzle in communication with a conduit that is attachable to a vacuum cleaning appliance, wherein a neck for controlling the floor tool is coupled to the support member and wherein the at least one suction nozzle is configured to float relative to the neck.
