Disclosed is a cabin air compressor (CAC) of an aircraft environmental control system, the CAC having: a CAC case defining a forward end and an aft end axially spaced apart axially from the forward end, wherein the forward end defines a compressor inlet; and a supplemental cooling passage defined by the CAC case, wherein the supplemental cooling passage is configured to direct a supplemental cooling medium through it.

An air separation module includes a separator, a canister, and a nominal-length end cap. The separator is arranged to separate ambient air into an oxygen-enriched air fraction and a nitrogen-enriched air fraction. The canister supports the separator and has a canister end flange, a canister intermediate flange and a canister end, the canister intermediate flange arranged between the canister end flange and the canister end. The nominal-length end cap is fixed to the canister end flange, and the separator extends between the canister end flange and the canister end. Nitrogen generation systems and methods of generating nitrogen-enriched air flows are also described.

An air separation module includes a canister extending between a first end and an opposite second end, a separator fixed within the canister to separate a compressed air flow into an oxygen-enriched air flow fraction and an oxygen-depleted air flow fraction, and a one-piece cap. The one-piece cap is connected to the first end of the canister and has a filter module mount portion on a side of the one-piece cap opposite the separator to support a filter module with the air separation module. An air separation module includes a cylindrical canister and a separator. The cylindrical canister has a longitudinal axis, an inlet, an oxygen-depleted air outlet, and a drain portion with an oxygen-enriched air outlet. The separator is arranged within the cylindrical canister to separate a compressed air flow into an oxygen-depleted air flow fraction and an oxygen-enriched air flow fraction, the oxygen-depleted air flow fraction provided to the oxygen-depleted air outlet and the oxygen-enriched air flow fraction to the drain portion of the canister. The drain portion extends tangentially from the cylindrical canister to issue the oxygen-enriched air flow fraction with entrained condensate from the oxygen-enriched air outlet with a tangential flow component. A motor housing assembly for a cabin air compressor assembly is provided that includes a central body portion, a first end portion, and a second end portion. The central body portion has an internal cavity configured to receive an electric motor. The first end portion includes a first and second motor cooling inlet duct. The second end portion includes a flange configured to couple with an outlet housing of the cabin air compressor assembly. A motor cooling duct centerline is defined between the first and second motor cooling inlet duct and is perpendicular to a central body portion centerline. A first distance is defined between an outer edge of the first and second motor cooling inlet duct. A second distance is defined between an outer face of the flange and an intersection of the centerlines. A ratio of the first distance to the second distance is between 1.29 and 1.3.

An aircraft is provided including an environmental control system (ECS) having a first ECS pack and a second ECS pack. A duct couples the first ECS pack to the second ECS pack. The duct includes a first bypass conduit configured to form a bypass around a first primary heat exchanger of the first ECS pack. A second bypass conduit configured to form a bypass around a second primary heat exchanger of the second ECS pack. The duct includes a crossover conduit extending between the first bypass conduit and the second bypass conduit. The duct includes a plurality of valves for selectively controlling a flow between the first bypass conduit and the second bypass conduit.
