Provided, in one aspect, is a downhole magnetic debris removal apparatus. The downhole magnetic debris removal apparatus, in one aspect, includes a housing having a longitudinal axis, and a plurality of magnets arranged as one or more Halbach arrays of magnets coupled to the housing, the one or more Halbach arrays of magnets having a strong side and a weak side.

Use of halbach array in downhole debris retrieval magnets

A valve assembly employed in subterranean wellbore systems includes a flapper member biased to a closed position by a pair of opposed wire springs. The wire springs provide sufficient torque to ensure robust operation of the flapper member and permit sufficient fluid flow through the limited space available in the valve assembly. A pair of symmetrical pair of wire springs may be robustly manufactured and individually installed without unnecessary accumulation of manufacturing tolerances or errors, thereby providing predictable torque levels to the flapper member. The wire springs may be secured in blind holes or other features defined in a circumferential surface of the flapper member to ensure the springs remain engaged with the flapper member throughout the operation of the valve assembly.

Robustness of flapper valve open/close

A wellbore isolation device is provided which includes a tubular body having an external surface and an inner bore formed longitudinally through the tubular body. The tubular body has an expanding section transitionable from an initial configuration to an expanded configuration. One or more fins project radially from the external surface of the expanding section. The fins are anchorable into surrounding surfaces when the expanding section transitions to the expanded configuration. A plugging element is positioned, after the expanding section is in the expanded configuration, to restrict fluid communication through the inner bore.

Wellbore isolation device

A downhole tool comprising a bidirectional slip having a slip frame and at least two slip banks. The slip frame including a plurality of slats spaced radially about a center ring. The slip banks have a first gripping bank and a second gripping bank. The first gripping bank is slideably received in a first slot in the slip frame, and the second gripping bank is slideably received in a second slot in the slip frame such that the slip bank has a set position in which the first gripping bank and second gripping bank extend radially outward from the slip frame so as to be able to engage the casing, and the slip bank has an unset position in which the slip bank is positioned radially inward from the set position.

Bidirectional slips

A downhole tool for use in a subterranean well having a casing therein. The downhole tool has a mandrel, a wedge, a slip bank and a pre-set mechanism. The wedge is disposed about the mandrel and in sliding relationship with the mandrel such that the wedge can slide between an unset position and a set position. The slip bank is associated with the wedge such that, when the slip wedge is in the unset position, the slip bank is in a radially inward position and does not engage the casing, and when the slip wedge is in the set position, the slip bank is in a radially outward position and engages the casing. The pre-set mechanism has a first detent ring located between the first wedge and the mandrel and positioned at least partially in a groove in the mandrel. The detent ring prevents the wedge from moving from the unset position to the set position until a load on the mandrel exceeds a predetermined force.

Resettable pre-set mechanism for downhole tools

A wellbore isolation device includes a wedge member that defines an outer surface and a barrel seal having a cylindrical body that provides an inner radial surface and an outer radial surface. The inner radial surface is engageable with the outer surface of the wedge member. The barrel seal further includes a plurality of longitudinally extending grooves defined through the body in an alternating configuration at opposing ends of the body. A raised lip protrudes radially from the outer radial surface and circuitously extends about a circumference of the body. A plurality of slip buttons is positioned in a corresponding plurality of holes defined in the outer radial surface of the body. At least one of the wedge member and the barrel seal is made of a degradable material that degrades when exposed to a wellbore environment.

Degradable expanding wellbore isolation device

An apparatus and method relating to down-hole production equipment for use in an oil well environment is provided. The apparatus and method are for selectively isolating fluid flow through a production packer or other down-hole tubular device. The apparatus and method use a ball valve, which is moved from an open position to a closed position by lateral or axial movement of the tubing string as opposed to by rotating the tubing string.

Valve for use with downhole tools

An expansion apparatus for anchoring a downhole tool in a well is provided. The expansion apparatus has a wedge, an expansion wedge and a slip ring. The wedge and expansion wedge interact so as to radially expand wedge segments of the expansion wedge. The slip ring and expansion wedge interact so as to radially expand the slip ring to grippingly engage the wellbore or casing.
