A peristaltic pump assembly comprises a pump and a removable cassette. The pump includes a pumping mechanism portion having opposed inner and outer walls defining a slot opening therebetween, and further having a cassette mounting pin extending at least partially across the slot opening. The removable cassette includes a cylindrical hinge journal and a mounting channel merging in a radial direction with the hinge journal, whereby the cassette is mounted on the mounting pin by inserting the removable cassette into the slot opening between the inner and outer walls of the pumping mechanism portion in a radial direction of the mounting pin such that the mounting pin is passed through the mounting channel and received by the hinge journal. The mounting pin and hinge journal are configured to allow the removable cassette to rotate about the mounting pin into and out of an installed position.

A manually-operated control for generating a vector signal comprises a handle with an elongate axis pivotally mounted to the housing for universal rotation about a pivot point on the axis of the handle. An imaged surface moves in two directions with the rotation of the handle about two perpendicular axes intersecting at the pivot point. A camera and LED are focused on the imaged surface. A microprocessor-based controller inputs and processes images sequentially input from the camera for detecting and quantifying the movement of the imaged surface in two directions and generates a vector signal indicative thereof.

A flow meter for measuring a flow rate of a flow of a fluid includes a housing member including a first section configured to matingly couple with a second section. The flow meter further includes an integrally formed laminar flow member removably held within at least a portion of the first section of the housing member. The laminar flow member includes a body and a plurality of channels integrally formed within the body, wherein each of the plurality of channels is substantially continuous in the longitudinal direction and substantially continuous in the transverse direction.

Flow meter for measuring a flow rate of a flow of a fluid

An apparatus and method for fluid flow measurement are provided. The apparatus includes a first thermistor; a second thermistor; a first deflecting member configured to shield the first thermistor from fluid flowing in a first direction; a second deflecting member configured to shield the second thermistor from fluid flowing in a second direction where the second direction is substantially opposite the first direction; and a circuit in electrical communication with the first thermistor and the second thermistor. The circuit includes a comparator for comparing a first signal from the first thermistor to a second signal from the second thermistor. The comparator provides an output indicative of a direction of fluid flowing past the first thermistor and the second thermistor.

Apparatus and method for fluid flow measurement

A device for invasively measuring fluid pressure is disclosed. The device includes a disposable housing having a fluid contacting area and a non-fluid contacting area. A disposable diaphragm in a substantially non-elastic state is disposed within the housing and separates the fluid contacting area from the non-fluid contacting area. A side of the diaphragm is adapted to contact the fluid, and the diaphragm has sufficient flexibility to move a distance axially within the non-fluid contacting area in response to fluid contact. The distance is substantially proportional to the fluid pressure. An electronic sensing device is removably attached adjacent the non-fluid contacting area of the housing, and is spaced from the diaphragm. The electronic sensing device is capable of determining the fluid pressure.

An illuminated pointer member with an integral warning indicator. The pointer member is illuminated with an off-center illumination source. The transparent central shaft member has a second light source at one end and a transparent panel member at the opposite end in the instrument pointer cap member. The pointer member is illuminated in a conventional manner to provide illuminated indicia on the instrument panel. The second light source is illuminated under certain conditions to provide a warning indicator through the panel member in the cap to the operator in the event of the occurrence of certain conditions.

An illuminated pointer member for an instrument panel. A hollow tubular shaft member conveys light from a light source through its hollow interior to the pointer member for illumination. A rotating mechanism, such as a gear mechanism and/or motor mechanism is connected to the tubular member for rotating the tubular member and pointer member.

An automotive gauge has a two part housing containing a stepper motor arrangement or other gauge movement which drives a pointer shaft. The front housing part consists of a transparent material for conducting light from a lamp to a facet which reflects light to a pointer for pointer illumination. The lamp is mounted inside or outside the housing. The front housing part includes an aperture for accommodating the pointer shaft and also has integral pins which serve as supports for rotary parts of the mechanism. The housing is mounted on a circuit board or a circuit board may comprise the rear housing part. Another embodiment uses a common light pipe member for the front housing of several gauges.

A coil is wound on a bobbin having posts extending from the bobbin body, the end of the coil wire being wrapped on the posts to form wire terminations. The coil is mounted on a circuit board with the coil either above the board or suspended alongside the board edge. The periphery of each post is positioned against a solder pad of the circuit board and the wire termination is soldered to the pad. Each post has a flexible neck portion to relieve stress due to coil thermal expansion. A recess in the side of the post facing the solder pad enhances solder interaction with the wire termination.

Surface mount coil assembly

An input circuit for an automotive gauge driver receives a pulse width modulated or pulse frequency signal having a duty cycle representing a parameter to be displayed. A switching transistor controls an RC filter to develop an analog voltage proportional to the parameter. The input circuit biases the transistor to correctly respond to the input signal over a large range of supply voltage and where the ground potential differs from that of the source of the input signal. An output transistor means (or two) in series with a gauge coil (or two) is controlled by the analog voltage to provide coil current to effect linear gauge operation. Diodes in the input circuit limit the analog voltage range to end values which match the turn-on characteristics of the transistor means.

Robust gauge driving circuit with pulse modulated input

A spindle for use in an instrumentation apparatus comprises, on an end of the spindle inserted into a cavity defined by a pointer shaft, (i) a surface for engagement to the pointer shaft and (ii) a recessed surface proximal to the engagement surface and inserted into the cavity without engaging the pointer shaft. The improved spindle is easily manufactured and reduces the maximum force required to stake the pointer shaft to the spindle.

An air core electrical gauge incorporates on the bobbin an annular biasing magnet magnetized in a direction to return the meter pointer to zero in the absence of a gauge driving current. A method of manufacturing the gauge includes magnetizing the biasing magnet after it is secured to a bobbin portion but optionally magnetizing the guage armature at the same time.
