A microencapsulated catalyst-ligand system is provided comprising a catalyst and a ligand microencapsulated within a permeable polymer microcapsule shell, wherein the ligand is a polymeric ligand. Processes for the preparation of said microencapsulated catalyst-ligand system are also provided.

Microencapsulated catalyst-ligand system

There is provided a process for removing metal from solution wherein a solution comprising a metal is contacted with a scavenger support, whereby the scavenger support binds to at least some of the metal in solution thereby decreasing the amount of metal in solution, characterized in that the scavenger support comprises a functionalized support comprising pendant groups selected from 1,3-ketoesters or 1,3-ketoamides or mixtures thereof attached to a support wherein a number of the pendant groups are reacted with an amine. Scavenger supports comprising a functionalized support comprising pendant 1,3-ketoester or 1,3-ketoamide groups of formula 1: wherein Ris an optionally substituted hydrocarbyl, perhalogenated hydrocarbyl or heterocyclyl group; X is O or NR, wherein the free valence of O or NRis bonded to a support optionally via a linker; and Ris hydrogen, an optionally substituted hydrocarbyl, or heterocyclyl group, wherein a number of the pendant groups are reacted with an amine are also provided. Preferred scavenger supports include scavenger supports comprising pendant 3-iminoesters, 3-iminoamides, 2,3-enaminoesters or 2,3-enaminoamides pendant groups of Formula (3) or (4): wherein Ris an optionally substituted hydrocarbyl, perhalogenated hydrocarbyl or heterocyclyl group; X is O or NR, wherein the free valence of O or NRis bonded to a support optionally via a linker; Ris hydrogen, an optionally substituted hydrocarbyl, or heterocyclyl group; Ris a substituent group; and Ris hydrogen or a substituent group, or Rand Rmay optionally be linked in such a way so as to form an optionally substituted heterocyclic ring, or tautomers or salts thereof.

Scavenger supports and the use thereof in a process for the extraction of metals

A scavenger support and a process for removing metal from solution by contacting the solution with the scavenger support, whereby the scavenger support binds to at least some of the metal in solution thereby decreasing the amount of metal in solution. The scavenger support is a functionalised support having pendant groups selected from 1,3-ketoesters or 1,3-ketoamides or mixtures thereof having a structure according to formula 1, wherein a number of the pendant groups are reacted with an amine: wherein Ris an optionally substituted hydrocarbyl, perhalogenated hydrocarbyl or heterocyclyl group; X is O or NR, wherein the free valence of O or NRis bonded to a support optionally via a linker; and Ris hydrogen, an optionally substituted hydrocarbyl, or heterocyclyl group.

The present invention relates to polyvinyl ethers and to their use as supports for synthetic methods (organic synthesis, peptide synthesis, oligonucleotide synthesis, oligosaccharide synthesis or any other synthetic procedure) and to their use for chromatographic applications (such as affinity chromatography), immobilisation of enzymes, reagents or catalysts.

Ink-jet ink compositions

A process for preparing a patterned, cross-linked, acrylic-polymer, film coating on a substrate; the process comprising the steps of: a) applying to the substrate by an ink-jet printing process a mixture comprising: i) one or more cross-linkable, thermally ink-jettable, water-dissipatable, precursor(s) for one or more cross-linked acrylic-polymer(s); ii) one or more cross-linker(s) capable of cross-linking the precursor(s) for the acrylic-polymer(s); and iii) one or more colorant(s); and b) thereafter curing the mixture in situ to form the patterned, cross-linked, acrylic-polymer, film coating on the substrate. Preferably the substrate is a color filter suitable for use in an LCD display and the mixture is applied in a single pass. The precursor may itself comprise polymers, e.g. acrylic polymers. Ink for use in this process and substrates printed by this process are also described.

Composition based on cross-linkable, water-dissipatable acrylic polymers, process and use
