The present invention provides a paper collecting tray that reduces or eliminates paper curling. The collecting tray has a wire structure using springs or movable bands to support various size papers. These springs are provided in one embodiment to support paper sheets having 8.5 inch widths, 24 inch widths and 36 inch widths. These are configured to provide substantial support for the sheets and configured to prevent paper curling when the paper is passed to the collecting tray.

Embodiments herein comprise a printing/copying media output device or terminal that includes a single media output tray that can be used as a flat tray or a basket tray. The media output tray has a first portion that connects to a media output device, a second portion at the opposite (distal) end of the first portion from the media output device, and a hinge between the first portion and the second portion connecting the first portion to the second portion. In some embodiments herein, the hinge is positioned at an approximate midpoint of the output tray and the first portion is approximately the same size as the second portion. By folding the tray at the hinge, the tray can be converted from a flat tray to a basket tray.

An integrated image module for a document scanner includes a one piece die cast housing having a datum element and a support element. An imaging sensor array is enclosed in the housing. An array bias element urges the imaging sensor array against the datum element to provide accurate placement of the sensor array relative to the housing. A transport mechanism is attached to the housing so that the position of the transport mechanism accurately corresponds to the position of the imaging sensor array. The lens and the lamp for illumination are also attached to the housing so that the primary components of the imaging portion of the scanner are contained in a single module.

Cleaning apparatus for cleaning debris from orifices in an ink jet printhead nozzle plate includes a structure defining a cleaning cavity between two horizontally contacting rollers where cleaning liquid is loaded, agitated, and dynamically sealed in the cavity trough the rotation of the rollers. A relative movement is also provided between the nozzle plate and the cleaning structure so that the nozzle plate can be positioned above the cleaning cavity with the rotating rollers. The nozzle plate is spaced a small distance from the flow of the cleaning liquid that the cleaning fluid fills this small distance. The flow causes the cleaning fluid to engage the nozzle plate and remove debris from the nozzle plate and orifice nozzles. After the cleaning cycle has ended the cleaning fluid is discarded.

A multi-roll media supporting and supply system is provided for supporting and supplying a web of media from a roll of media to a media using machine. The multi-roll media supporting and supply system includes a support mechanism having a first side and a second side; a media supply assembly supported rotatably on the support mechanism, including a cylindrical member having a circular periphery, a shaft defining a first axis of rotation, and a plurality of elongate recesses for each supporting a roll of media. The multi-roll media supporting and supply system also includes a staging assembly associated with at least one of the first side and the second side of the support mechanism for assisting loading of a roll of media onto the media supply assembly.

There is provided document stacking stacker for stacking documents exiting a wide format machine, including a sheet tray having a planar base plate for stacking sheets thereon and a side wall for abutting sheets thereagainst; guides disposed adjacent the tray to direct sheets therein at an angle relative to the plane of the base plate, a feeder associated with the guides to feed sheets through the guides into the tray; a corrugating bar includes an array air corrugaters, the air corrugators are connected to an air plenum, each of the air corrugators have an air discharge ports for discharge of air against incoming bottom surface of sheets in the direction of movement of the sheets to corrugated the sheets as the sheet is feed to the tray.

A heat and pressure fuser includes a thin web which is wrapped around a portion of a heated fuser roll to form a fusing area. The web contacts the fuser over a relatively short wrap angle to reduce torque required to drive the fuser roll, thereby enabling a higher process speed. Fusing efficiency is maintained by use of a biasing mechanism which increases the pressure applied to the web both the entrance and exit areas of the fuser.

A low cost copy output stacker for engineering size copies includes a vertical catch tray molded into front doors of a copier/printer for accepting the lead edge of the copies and allowing the copies to bend over the top of the catch tray in a stacked position under gravity. A manually operated hinged stop is positioned in a down position blocking the path of copy sheets in order to keep them from reaching the bottom of the catch tray for stacking copy sheets size 11' to 24' and positioned in an up position for copy sheet sizes 24' to 48'.

A copy output stacker for a wide format copier/printer holds and stacks a wide range of copy sizes exiting a copier/printer. The copies are stacked conveniently in front of the copier/printer without occupying much space. The stacker includes the use of an inverted 'window shade' assembly with its roller spring mechanism attached on one end of the base of the roll feed/cutter assembly of the copier/printer, while the other end is pulled out and attached at an angle in front of the media supply drawer in order to form a pocket to catch copy sheets exiting the copier/printer.

A low mass fuser roll fusing system incorporates a thin web member to maintain copy sheets in biased contact with a fuser roll during a fusing operation. The copy sheets are introduced to the fusing area at an entrance nip formed by a biasing assembly. The lead edge of the copy sheet is introduced into the entrance nip by a reciprocating mecahnism which moves, the web member and the copy sheet supported thereon into the entrance nip. The web member motion is then stopped and the copy sheet progresses through the fusing cycle until the copy sheet emerges from the fusing area, at which time the web member is returned to its original position.

Fuser system utilizing a reciprocating pressure web

An imaging system in a copier is modified so as to scan original documents at speeds differing from the image medium speed through the exposure zone so as to anamorphically reduce or enlarge the projected image. A two process scanning operation results in an output image reduced or enlarged in two dimensions. Resolution is maintained by forming an effective imaging width of approximately 1 mm by using a combination of a lens array providing a narrow irradiance profile with an optically aligned slit of smaller width. Magnification values of from 0.50 to 1.5 are thereby enabled.
