A system including a communication interface, a memory, and a processor. The communication interface is configured to receive data. The memory is divided into a first retention region and a second retention region, wherein the first retention region is configured to store data for a first predetermined period of time, and the second retention region is configured to store data for a second predetermined period of time. The processor is configured to i) initially store, within the first retention region of the memory, the data that is received, and ii) in response to the data that is received having been stored in the first retention region of the memory for a time limit that exceeds the first predetermined period of time, transfer the data that is received from the first retention region of the memory to the second retention region of the memory.

Method and apparatus for optimizing memory usage in an imaging device

Various techniques are described for acoustically exciting a toner cartridge and acoustically measuring an amount of ink or toner in a toner cartridge by using known resonant shaping structures built into the toner cartridge. As ink or toner is consumed, a resonant shaping structure covered by the ink or toner is partially revealed, changing an acoustic signature received from the toner cartridge. A current level of ink or toner is determined by analyzing the acoustic signature. The current level is used to calibrate a relationship function used to estimate a remaining number of pages that can be printed based on the level of ink or toner remaining in the toner cartridge.

Method and apparatus for determining an amount of toner within a toner cartridge based on acoustic properties of the toner cartridge

The software on the host machine examines a pixel, either alone or in relation to adjacent pixels. Based on the image data contained in the pixel or group of pixels, a multi-bit value is generated that can be used by the printing device to easily reproduce the necessary detail of the original pixel. The multi-bit value also contains print engine control parameters to handle items such as toner miser mode, toner explosion, edge roll off, etc. The multi-bit value can be generated algorithmically by using a lookup table or by some combination of these methods.

Method of pre-processing data on a host machine for a host-based print system

Method and apparatus for storing demonstration page information in an imaging device

A controller for scaling an input image is provided. The controller selects a pixel neighborhood that includes a plurality of pixels neighboring a pixel. The controller compares at least part of the pixel neighborhood to a pattern. If the pattern is present in the pixel neighborhood, the controller applies a scaling algorithm to at least a portion of the pixel neighborhood in order to obtain a scaled image. The controller also selects another pixel neighborhood that includes a plurality of pixels neighboring a pixel in the scaled image, and compares at least part of the another pixel neighborhood to another pixel pattern. If the another pixel pattern is present in the another pixel neighborhood, the controller applies a correction algorithm to at least a portion of the another pixel neighborhood in order to obtain a processed scaled image.

Methods and systems for scaling an input image are provided. A pixel neighborhood that includes a plurality of pixels neighboring a pixel is selected. At least part of the pixel neighborhood is compared directly to a predetermined pattern in order to determine whether the predetermined pattern is present in the pixel neighborhood. A controller applies a predetermined scaling algorithm to at least a portion of the pixel neighborhood in order to obtain a scaled image if the predetermined pattern is present in the pixel neighborhood.

A method for image processing loads a cache line width column of image data into a data cache. The cache line width column of image data is then processed to enhance the image data; and the enhanced image data is then outputted.

Methods and systems for scaling an input image.

The printing speed of a page printer is modified relative to rasterization execution time (RET) for display commands that define images to be printed on each page strip of a page. The printer includes a variable frequency clock for producing a plurality of clock frequencies for modifying the printing speed. A processor compares the RET for each page strip with a threshold value. When a complex page strip is found whose RET exceeds the threshold, the variable frequency clock is appropriately controlled to generate a lower frequency clock signal to the print engine. The lower frequency signal causes the print engine to operate at a modified (slower) rate for a sufficient amount of time on any previously queued page strip(s) to provide an extended time frame for allowing the complex page strip to be rasterized. Printing speed is slowed, but rasterization time (clock speed) for the complex page strip is not slowed. Accordingly, display commands in the complex page strip are rasterized within the extended amount of time provided by the reduced print speed, thereby preventing a print overrun.
