The present application provides 'hot desking' features for multi-device users. A number of automatic hot desking registrations are provided in which users are assigned multiple devices on a permanent basis. A private branch exchange or central switch can be provided with a list of these devices and can relieve the user of the requirement of registration by detecting use of these devices and assigning user features and other pertinent system properties e.g. as an indication of location for find me/follow me services. The extension allows for automatically hot desking using a listed device, hot desking based on a location associated with a listed device, and hot desking using declared associations of listed devices.

Extended hot desking features for multi-device users

A system and method for routing selected phone calls to a user having a plurality of communication resources is disclosed. Background information of a caller is identified. A context of the user is postulated based on available information. The user's communication resources are identified. A location of the user is estimated. A cascaded ringing program for routing the phone call to the user is identified based on the background information of the caller, the device type of the user's communication resources, the postulated context of the user, and the estimated location of the user. The phone call is then routed using the cascaded ringing program.

Extended cascaded ringing

A computer-implemented method and system organizes communications by combining and integrating distinct communication events conducted through diverse communication modes into to a single conversation. Notification of an occurrence of an event is received and, in response to the notification, a conversation object representing a conversation is generated. A plurality of participants is associated with the conversation. A communication entry is associated with the conversation object. The communication entry has a message for at least one of the participants. The conversation object and the communication entry are stored in persistent memory. Shared access to the conversation object stored in persistent memory is limited to the plurality of participants associated with the conversation.
