A sequence code verification system can be designed to include a data reader, a validity engine, and an error notifier. The data reader can read sequence codes from consecutive logical blocks. The validity engine can invalidate write operations in response to checking data validity by applying comparison operations to sequence codes and block offsets of batch write operations. The error notifier can notify a user of an error for each invalidated write operation batch. The system can validate data written to logical blocks on a storage subsystem adapted so that, during write operations, an additional sequence code is written to each logical block of data. The sequence code can remain constant for each write operation batch and the sequence code can be incremented for each new write operation batch.

Storage integrity validator

A data receiver module receives, at a storage device simulator, a data transmission from a storage controller being tested. The data transmission includes data and metadata. The metadata is associated with the data. A signature receiver module receives a signature from the storage controller as part of the data transmission. The signature is used to distinguish the metadata from the data. A data/metadata determination module examines the data transmission and determines data from metadata using the signature. A metadata storage module stores the metadata of the data transmission on the storage device simulator in response to the data transmission including metadata. The data storage simulator includes a data storage device. A data discard module discards the data of the data transmission in response to the data transmission including data.

Cost effective use of simulated storage in a storage subsystem test environment

A method for identifying discrepancies in an email distribution list is provided in various embodiments of this present invention. The method includes receiving from an originating client an email addressed to a list of recipients; examining the list of recipients to identify one or more possible amendments to the list of recipients; and informing the originating client of any identified amendments. In other embodiments, examining the list of recipients further includes comparing the recipient list with one or more trusted lists or a directory to identify one or more possible amendments to the list of recipients to identify those recipients missing or sharing a common attribute. In other embodiments it is determined if other names in the directory, but no in the recipient list, also share the common attribute. Subsequently, one or more amendments may be made to the recipient list based on such absent names.

Method, apparatus and computer program for identifying any discrepancies in an email distribution list

A storage network includes a path processor for directing data onto one of two or more paths between an application host and two or more storage controllers in a storage subsystem. To determine a data path within the storage network, the operational status of a storage controller in the storage subsystem is monitored. It is determined whether a change in the operational status of the storage controller is a failure or a potential failure. This determination is sent to the path processor. The path processor redirects application host data from the path controller on the basis of the determination.

Storage area network system

This invention relates to a method, system and computer program product for reading data from a storage controller in storage area network. A read data instruction is received from an application requesting data from the storage controller using a primary data path. If the data on the primary data path is not transferred in a defined time interval using the primary data path, data is requested from the storage controller using one or more alternative data paths. Data is received from the storage controller on one of data paths and into a buffer. When the read instruction has completed and that the data is in the buffer, the application is notified. Each data path is associated with a buffer and the data is received into a buffer associated with the path. The application is informed which buffer holds the data and the application accesses the data from this buffer.

Method, system, and computer program product for reading data from a storage controller in a storage area network

A multiplexing system and method for servicing serially linked targets or RAID devices. The multiplexing system couples service interfaces from various targets and devices. The multiplexing system provides a single service link to a single service unit interface. The single service link allows easy access/communications or remote access/communications to an individual target or disk drive within the RAID system. A service unit is directly or remotely coupled to the service unit interface. The multiplexing system has an outgoing multiplexer, an in-going multiplexer, and a multiplexer controller. The service unit communicates with the multiplexing system to select the desired target or disk drive to be serviced. The multiplexer controller detects incoming select target commands and compares incoming target address information with a presently defined multiplexer controller target address information. A switch command is activated or occurs when the incoming select target address information is different with the presently defined multiplexer controller target address information. The multiplexing system accordingly switches to a different target or disk drive to be looked at and serviced when a switch command has been activated or has occurred.

Multiplexing system and method for servicing serially linked targets or raid devices

An automatic enable and disable system and method for a computer interfaced device linkable to an external computer system. Communication occurs when a computer interfaced device has been latched to and inserted into or unlatched and about to be removed from the external computer system. A sensor is coupled to a controller of the computer interfaced device, and a sensor component is coupled to a cam mechanism or other such component of the computer interfaced device. The sensor component is engagable to and disengagable from the sensor. The sensor senses engaging and disengaging of the sensor component respectively thereto and therefrom as the cam mechanism or such component is latched and unlatched. Latching of the cam mechanism or such component and the computer interfaced device is communicated to the external computer system when the sensor component is engaged to the sensor. Unlatching of the cam mechanism or such component and the fact that the computer interfaced device is about to be removed from the external computer system is communicated to the external computer system when the sensor component is disengaged from the sensor. A non-maskable interrupt is used to couple the sensor to the controller which is in communications with the external computer system. The sensor component is a magnet, light passage blocker, or mechanical sensor component, and the sensor is a hall-effect sensor, an optical sensor, or a mechanical sensor.

Auto enable/disable system and method for computer interfaced devices

In a display system an array of data values such as, for example, an array of speech waveform samples, is represented in a display field by logically dividing the display field into a number of display areas and determining (e.g. in 16), for each value of the data array, the area of the display field within which that value should be displayed, comparing that value to a range for the area in question and updating the range to include that value if it lies outside the range previously defined for that area and then plotting, within each area of the display field, a line joining display screen positions defined by the range in the range storage for that area.

Display system for representing an array of data values in a display

An aircraft fuel gauging system has a capacitance level probe mounted in a fuel tank that receives an alternating signal from a drive unit. The output of the level probe is connected to two diodes one of which is connected in series to earth and the other of which is connected in the opposite sense to a measuring unit. The measuring unit includes a signal conditioning unit which is switchable between operating as a d.c. current to voltage amplifier and a d.c. voltage amplifier by switching a resistor out of or into series connection with the diodes. A constant current source backs off the current from the probe when the tank is empty. Periodically, the supply of signals from the drive unit is interrupted and the conditioning unit is switched to operating as a d.c. voltage amplifier, the measuring unit measuring the voltage drop across the two diodes caused by current from the constant source. The current from the constant source may be increased when the resistor is connected in line such that the current through the diodes is substantially the same as the mean current during a.c. operation. The measuring unit may provide an indication of temperature derived from the voltage drop across the diodes.
