An apparatus includes first and second components. A track supports one of the components for movement toward the other of the components. A first connector is mounted on the first component. The first connector retains an end portion of a first fiber optic cable, and has a first alignment portion. A second connector retains an end portion of a second fiber optic cable, and has a second alignment portion. The second alignment portion guides the second fiber optic cable radially into coaxial alignment with the first fiber optic cable upon movement of the first alignment portion against the second alignment portion. A floating mount device supports the second connector on the second component for guided movement radially relative to the second component upon movement of the first alignment portion against the second alignment portion.

An arc quenching device creates a fault on a bus. A lockout mechanism of a circuit breaker feeding the bus is responsively actuated. Actuating the lockout mechanism may include releasing a spring-loaded mechanism mounted on a cassette that holds the circuit breaker to cause the mechanism to engage a lockout member of the circuit breaker.

Circuit breaker inerlock for arc quenching device

An arc quenching device includes a frame, at least one controlled-arcing device supported by the frame, and at least one contact assembly supported by the frame and electrically connected to the at least one controlled-arcing device. The device further includes a racking mechanism supported by the frame and including a motor and at least one actuator member driven by the motor and configured to engage a feature in an electrical equipment unit compartment to move the arc quenching device within the compartment and engage the at least one contact assembly with a bus of the electrical equipment unit. The arc quenching device may be configured to be installed in a cassette in the electrical equipment unit and the actuator member may be configured to engage a feature of the cassette.

A test apparatus includes an output configured to be coupled to a sense input of an arc quenching device control circuit of an arc quenching system, a user interface, and a control circuit configured to generate a simulated sense signal at the output in response to an input at the user interface, the simulated sense signal representing a physical state associated with a fault condition of a bus coupled to the arc quenching system. The simulated sense signal may be configured to cause the arc quenching device control circuit to trigger an arc quenching device of the arc quenching system. The physical state may include, for example, a voltage condition, a current condition, a temperature, a pressure or a light intensity. In some embodiments, the simulated sense signal may include a current indicative of a current passing through a bus to which the arc quenching system is connected.

Test apparatus and methods for arc mitigation device

The disclosed concept pertains generally to secondary terminal blocks and, more particularly, to apparatus and methods for isolating the secondary terminal blocks and associated wiring in electrical switching assembly enclosures. The apparatus includes a housing having an outer surface structured to form a cavity therein. The apparatus is positioned in an enclosure which includes an electrical switching apparatus and one or more secondary terminal blocks. The one or more secondary terminal blocks are positioned in the cavity such that the apparatus at least substantially isolates the one or more secondary terminal blocks from the electrical switching apparatus. Further, the apparatus is effective to substantially isolate the secondary terminal blocks from temperature and pressure effects resulting from an arcing fault occurring in the enclosure.

A mounting assembly is provided for an electrical switching apparatus, such as a circuit breaker. The circuit breaker includes a housing having an exterior and an interior, separable contacts disposed in the interior, and an operating mechanism structured to open and closed the separable contacts. The exterior of the housing includes a recess. The mounting assembly includes a bracket assembly having at least one bracket, an expansion member coupled to a corresponding one of the at least one bracket and being disposed within the recess on the exterior of the housing, and an actuator movably coupled to the expansion member. The actuator is movable between an actuated position corresponding to the expansion member expanding outwardly within the recess to secure the mounting assembly to the circuit breaker, and an unactuated position corresponding to the expansion member not being expanded and the mounting assembly being removable from the circuit breaker.

An electrical enclosure assembly is provided including a first enclosure and a second enclosure disposed within the first enclosure. The first enclosure having a plurality of walls defining an interior and an exterior with one of the walls including a first number of one way vents. The interior being substantially sealed from the exterior except at the first number of one way vents. The second enclosure having a plurality of walls defining an interior separate from the interior of the first enclosure. One of the plurality of walls of the second enclosure including a second number of one way vents. The interior of the second enclosure being substantially sealed from the interior of the first enclosure except at the second number of one way vents.

A seal apparatus is disposed between a switchgear cabinet and a circuit breaker between the racked and unracked positions of the circuit breaker. The seal apparatus sealingly extends between the switchgear cabinet and the circuit breaker to resist fluid flow, such as exhaust gases and other matter, between an interior region of the switchgear cabinet and the exterior of the switchgear cabinet.

Seal apparatus for circuit breaker application

A seal assembly for an electrical enclosure having a draw-out circuit breaker and a number of conductors is provided having a movable first seal member and a movable second seal member. The circuit breaker includes a protruding nose portion that is engaged by the first and second seal members in a manner that sealingly engages the nose portion. The arrangement of the first and second seal members and the nose portion provides for the sealing engagement to be maintained when the circuit breaker is moved from a first position in which the circuit breaker is not electrically connected to the number of conductors and a second position in which the circuit breaker is electrically connected to the number of conductors.
