A power cable or a hybrid power-data cable includes power conductors and a plurality of continuity wires positioned radially outside of the power conductors. The continuity wires are positioned relative to the power conductors such that a cut in the cable will sever one of the plurality of continuity wires before a cut into the power conductors can occur.

A power system includes a power sourcing device, a first splice enclosure including a first power input port, a first power output port, and a first power tap port that is connected to a first remote powered device, and a second splice enclosure including a second power input port, a second power output port, and a second power tap port that is connect to a second remote powered device. The power system includes a composite power-data cable configured to carry power signals transmitted from the power sourcing device to the first splice enclosure and to the second splice enclosure. The power sourcing device is configured to disable the power signals to at least one of the first power input port, the first power output port, or the first power tap port of the first splice enclosure without disabling the power signals at the second splice enclosure.

A method is provided. The method comprises determining configuration data; wherein the configuration data comprises a resistance of a bypass circuit coupled between a remote radio head and a power cable; using the configuration data, determining the resistance of the power cable coupling a programmable power supply to the remote radio head mounted on a mounting structure, comprising: entering a calibration mode; setting an output voltage of the programmable power supply; measuring an output current of the programmable power supply; storing the output current; and determining the cable resistance; and storing the resistance of the power cable.
