A display device includes a spatial light modulator and a light generator. The spatial light modulator may have an array of modulating elements with a plurality of image regions. The light generator may be configured to direct a different one of a plurality of substantially stationary light bands onto each of a plurality of the image regions of the array of modulating elements.

A method of displaying an image having a first aspect ratio with a display device having a second aspect ratio includes receiving image data for the image, buffering the image data and creating a frame of the image at the first aspect ratio, defining a first sub-frame and a second sub-frame for the frame of the image at the second aspect ratio, including spatially offsetting the second sub-frame from the first sub-frame in one direction, and alternating between displaying the first sub-frame in a first position and the second sub-frame in a second position spatially offset from the first position with the display device, including optically scaling a displayed image of the first sub-frame and a displayed image of the second sub-frame in the one direction.

A method for projecting an image with a projection system includes zooming a projected image in accordance with a resolution of the image, when a resolution of the image is less than a resolution corresponding to the projection system. A projection system for projecting an image based on a received video signal including optics having a corresponding resolution and a zoom control controlling a zoom of the optics. If a resolution of the image of the video signal is less than the resolution corresponding to the optics, the zoom control zooms a projected image.

A projected image is created by receiving an image represented in a colorspace onto a projector device. The image is parsed into two or more color image components of the colorspace having two or more different resolutions. The two or more color image components of the colorspace are projected in two or more different resolutions superimposed and coincident with each other to make the image.

An electronic device of an embodiment of the invention is disclosed that includes a housing and an electronic mechanism. Digital projector

A composite display is provided having display panels which move into and out of a viewing position. While in the viewing position the display panels form a concatenated display screen. The display panels are stored within a display housing with respective viewing areas being at least partially overlapped to reduce storage space. The display panels automatically move out of the storage position into the viewing position in a notebook computer configuration when opening the computer. Similarly, the display panels automatically move into the storage position when closing the computer. The display unit includes a post. A system unit includes a cam. The cam defines a track within which the post moves. While the display unit rotates from the closed position to the open position the post moves along the track causing a display to move into its viewing position.

A battery charger is connected to a power source via an input cable. The battery charger has charge switching circuitry for delivering a charge to a battery under the control of a controller. The controller has state detection logic for detecting the current state of the battery, and charging logic for charging the battery by selectively enabling and disabling the charge switching circuitry based on the condition of the battery. An output cable is connected to the battery charger. The output cable delivers power from the power source to a second battery charger for charging a second battery for the electronic device. The output cable can be placed in a stowage position or a non-stowage position. The second battery charger may be external or internal to the electronic device. If the second battery charger is internal to the electronic device, two batteries can be charged at the same time the electronic device is being operated. The battery charger has the additional capability of detecting and correctly charging different battery types, and responding to error conditions detected during the charging operation.
