A cutlery device is provided having a blade with a sharpened edge and an opposite, unsharpened back. The cutlery device also includes a tang extending from the blade which is at least partially enclosed in a handle. The tang has a tapered thickness to produce a cutlery device that is balanced when grasped with some fingers on the handle and some fingers on the blade. The back of the blade is curved so that a finger may be comfortably pressed against the back. The handle is curved for comfort and pieces of the handle are secured on the tang with rivets of varying length to accommodate the shape of the handle. A sharpening aid is also provided for the cutlery device which has at least one angled wall for positioning a sharpening surface at a sharpening angle, permitting the cutlery device to be held with the blade positioned vertically during a sharpening operation.

A lock release mechanism for a folding combination tool having a plurality of supplemental tools (e.g., a knife, screwdriver, can opener, etc.) mounted at the free end of a generally U-shaped handle for rotation from a storage position within the handle to an extended &ldquo;in use&rdquo; position outside the handle. The locking mechanism is characterized by a leaf spring formed at the free end of the handle that lockingly engages the mounting end or shank of one or more of the supplemental tools when such tool is rotated from the handle to its fully extended position for use. The lock release mechanism preferably includes a bulge, formed on a different supplemental tool, that extends outside the handle so that the bulge may be depressed into the handle by a user. The mounting end of the different supplemental tool includes a leading edge portion that, when the bulge is depressed, moves the leaf spring out of engagement with the mounting end of the locked tool so that the latter is released and may be rotated by the user back into the handle.

A display package for an article includes a front and a rear panel having respective peripheral portions secured to one another in an operative condition of the package. At least the front panel is provided with a recess constituting, together with a juxtaposed portion of the rear panel, a compartment for accommodating the article therein with substantially no movement therein in the operative condition of the package. A holding element is also substantially immovably received in the compartment and extends across a corresponding portion of the article remotely from the rear panel to confine the article between itself and the rear panel. The holding element is substantially rigid, and each of the front panel and the holding element is of a transparent material.

A support clip or sheath is detachably mounted on a knife. The clip or sheath has a locking portion insertable into a cavity of the knife, and a release button is operable for releasing the clip or sheath therefrom. A plurality of mounting apertures on the clip or sheath is attachable to various objects, such as a keyring or a strap. The knife and/or the objects are separately handled upon detachment of the clip or sheath. The knife is suspendable by the clip or sheath from a carrier such as a belt or strap.
