A composition having a polycarbonate or polycarbonate-copolymer component having a glass transition temperature of at least 120&#xb0; C., and an additive component having the following elements: i) a mixture of saturated and unsaturated fatty esters, a mixture of organic fatty amides with surfactants, a polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane or a mixture of one or more polyhedral oligomeric silsequioxanes, or a combination thereof; ii) inorganic particulates with average particle sizes of less than 100 nm; iii) a high molecular weight, low volatility primary antioxidant; iv) a high molecular weight, low volatility secondary antioxidant; and v) a non-halogenated fire retardant or a mixture of one or more non-halogenated fire retardants.

Flame-retardant compositions and related methods

The invention relates to a polymeric composition, comprising: at least one thermoplastic resin having a glass transition temperature of at least about 220&#xb0; C.; inorganic particulates having an average particle size in the range up to about 100 nanometers dispersed in the thermoplastic resin, the inorganic particulates having an index of refraction in the range from about 1.4 to about 3; and an effective amount of at least one dispersant to disperse the inorganic particulates in the thermoplastic resin. The polymer composition may be a high temperature thermoplastic suitable for forming, such as by molding, optical articles such as lenses.

Polymeric composition

A pre-dispersion composition comprising (i) a silsesquioxane; (ii) a dispersing agent; and (iii) a curable resin.

Dispersions and related coatings and cured articles

Optical polymeric composition and method of making same

The invention relates to a polymer composition, comprising: (i) at least one thermoplastic resin having a glass transition temperature of at least about 220&#xb0; C.; (ii) at least one phenylalkoxysilane, biphenol, trisilanolphenyl polyhedral oligomeric silesquioxane, or mixture of two or more thereof; (iii) inorganic particulates having an average particle size in the range up to about 100 nanometers dispersed in the thermoplastic resin, the inorganic particulates having an index of refraction in the range from about 1.4 to about 3; and (iv) an effective amount of at least one dispersant to disperse the inorganic particulates in the thermoplastic resin; with the proviso that when the trisilanolphenyl polyhedral oligomeric silesquioxane is in the form of particulates with an average particle size up to about 100 nanometers, the trisilanolphenyl polyhedral oligomeric silesquioxane particulates are optionally used as both component (ii) and as a partial or complete replacement for the inorganic particulates in component (iii). The polymer composition may be a high temperature thermoplastic suitable for forming, such as by molding, optical articles such as lenses.

Radiation-curable compositions and cured articles

A radiation-curable composition in a liquid or solid form comprises at least one solid, non-crystalline radiation-transmissible material, dispersed in at least one cationic-curable or free-radical curable composition or mixture thereof. The solid, non-crystalline radiation-transmissible materials comprise glasses and other suitable materials that transmit (i.e., are transparent to) at least about 40% of radiation having a wavelength from about 180 to about 600 nanometers. The solid forms of the radiation-curable compositions of the invention are useful as powder coatings for coating decorative and functional objects and that would be cured by a thermal heating flow process followed by radiation exposure. The cured compositions of the invention are useful as coatings and inks for metal, paper, plastics, glass, ceramics, and wood, as adhesives, as sealants, and as composite materials and other articles and in biomedical and dental applications.

The present invention relates to a method of providing thermal insulation and fire-resistance to buildings, by filling voids or spaces in and around structural members with a low density thermally insulating and fire-resistant cementitious composition containing a high proportion of a relatively smooth-surfaced, vesicular, expanded perlite. The method includes placing a flexible, woven, fire-resistant bag in the space to be filled, so as to act as a containment vessel, pumping a cementitious composition into the bag to fill a space by conforming to the shape of the space, while the bag simultaneously contains the cementitious composition in the desired position, and allowing the composition to cure into a lightweight, fire-resistant, and thermally insulating concrete. The method is particularly useful in and directed to remedial, post-construction applications in occupied buildings.

Low density insulating and fire-resistant perlite concrete

An admixture for a dense and durable concrete mix consisting essentially of diatomaceous earth and silica fume in the ratio of from 1 to 1 up to 1 to 8. Optionally, fly ash and lignosulfonate dispersant may be added to the admixture.

Hydrating and plasticizing admixture for dense concrete

A pumpable backfill grout which hardens into a controlled low strength material and an additive for making up such a backfill grout. The grout consists essentially of portland cement, a smooth surfaced vesicular expanded perlite, fly ash, fine aggregate, water, an air entraining agent, a quick dispersing thixiotropic suspending agent and a bentonite thickening agent.
